It's truly a seismic shift in attitudes not seen in modern times.

An increase in support of 15-20 percentage points in just a decade across EVERY demographic age group with the notable exception of the oldest "silent generation", which saw only a 5% increase.

More boomers support marriage equality today than did 10 years ago.
More genxers support marriage equality today than did 10 years ago.
More millenials support marriage equality today than did 10 years ago.

That pretty much trashes the anti-gay's theory that people become more conservative on social issue as they age.

Game over man, game over!

Game over indeed .. I've ceased worrying over the matter and consider the battle won .. Pity so much heartache , waste of money and general fracas accompanies these changes .. But " MAN IS A SLOW CREATURE " ( Cristina Fernández de Kirchner )..

Exactly.

And for the bashing Portman has had in some quarters for only changing is mind when it was his own son, that's how it often works.

It suddenly becomes REAL, and not just religious or idolocial mental exercise.

How dare a conservative politician put his own family above his party line.
This is how it starts. This is how "conservatism" will die.
Free thinking people have no business in the Republican Party.

The GOPasaurs are in a lose-lose situation. They can't support marriage equality as a party policy because they'll lose the 12 million or so evangelical voters. But if they stick with opposing marriage equality they risk losing the entire upcoming generation of voters who support marriage equality by some 70-80%.

Ironically the BEST thing for the GOPasaurs would be if the SCOTUS ruled marriage for same-sex couples is a right nationwide and nullify the issue going forward. They could then blame the "liberal activist judges" and then move on.

As it stands, the GOPasaur is destined to become a minority southern regional party.
