You can see that much of our wealth from the the early 1970's on is false. And there is no wealth. When this thing collapses, pain and suffering will be the prescription. If it continues at a slow rate, we will see and feel the degradation of the greatest nation in history to maddingly sorry azz third world balkanized nation that destroyed itself over the loss of common sense in the most massive transfer of stupidity based on hate charges for everything humanity can declare.

I don't understand the concept of minting a platinum coin, declaring it worth a trillion and then paying bills using it as collateral. It reminds me of someone I knew long ago who would totter into the corner bar, drink his fill stand up with great difficulty, tell the bartender "I'm good for it," and then stagger his way home to his mortified family. Everyone in the neighborhood knew the routine but were discreet enough not to talk about it. With a symbolic balance of a trillion in the treasury, do we expect our lenders to accept payment in meaningless paper money because we, like the neighborhood drunk of 50 or more years ago, say "We're good for it." Of course, this is one of the stupidest ideas to come out of Washington, but it is also highly insulting because our leadership seems to think we are all so dumb, so gullible and so naive that we will accept this proposal as a stroke of genius. I don't post much anymore because the shenanigans that are headline news are so absurd that they are more worthy of satirical sites such as "The Onion." To quote the writer, Dorothy Parker, "What fresh hell is this?"

It's no different than declaring a dollar bill is worth $1. Since none of our money is backed by anything other than the word of the federal government, it doesn't matter if we make a $1 bill or a $1 trillion coin. Neither have any value other than what the govt says they do.

They should just make it a $17 trillion coin and pay off the debt.

More absurd lies. You WISH you'd even reached as high as the position of Community Organizer in your pathetic life, auJimboSpam.

You've SURELY never graduated Ivy League, worked for a law firm, taught law at U. of Chicago, been a state assemblyman, a U.S. Senator, or President.

You've always been on the outside looking in, haven't you? And envying those inside...

Because a trillion is a real number, and it would help keep Repubbies from destroying our economy.

Mint it. USE it. Republicans must not be allowed to hold our economy and bond ratings hostage to their insane, ideologically-based demands.

The Debt Ceiling itself is unConstitutional, as is their manipulation of it for political purposes. So for them to whine about the Constitutionality of the coin is to see their utter hypocrisy.

Do it!

No, igorant one, "thieves" are those who DON'T pay their bills. This would enable us to avoid Republican thieves and actually pay our national debts, as the COnstitution mandates.

Try to keep up, seriously.

When you look at liberals and Obama, you see them ignore our laws, the constitution and the bible. It is clear they do not have any intention in continuing what made this country great. Their followers will continue to believe that there really is a magic lamp, until the chains go on and reality sinks in.

Well let's look at this, poofesser.

Republican voters....workers, producers AND taxpayers who DO pay their bills.

Demorat base...welfare kings and queens, city ghetto dwellers and california potheads who DON'T pay taxes.

You're an idiot as usual.

The trillion dollar coin must be the change Øbama campaigned on. I wondered what that was all about.
