Still Dodging Reality on Taxes

There are 11 comments on the www.nytimes.com story from Nov 28, 2012, titled Still Dodging Reality on Taxes. In it, www.nytimes.com reports that:

Apparently, Republicans are so wedded to keeping the Bush-era tax cuts for the rich that they would prefer to hurt charities

Congressional Republicans seem to think they are being flexible on taxes simply because a few of them have grudgingly admitted that some new revenues can be part of the current fiscal negotiations. We’re unimpressed.

raising revenue is a small part of the equation. that is really more about obama acting like he is really standing up to those mean and greedy rich folks, who want to keep the money they have made. the nerve! the much larger issue is cutting expenditures. the democrats seem to think since obama was re-elected, they don't have to even try to cut spending.

Funny how they are back to being Bush's tax cuts for the rich, when Obama extended them they were tax cuts for everyone.
They don't even have to try hard to fool anyone anymore, they say it and it becomes truth.

You forgot to mention that the tea bag congress put Obama over a barrrel. They would sink the economy to protect the rich, or to make our first black president look bad.

But it only reflcts badly on them, and liars like you.

Actually, it is a major part.
We should tax capital gains at the same rate as earned income. elminate all exemptions and loopholes for those making over $10,000,000/year.

We should create an import tarriff on manufactured goods.

capital gains - your idea screws about 10 million seniors/pensioners who depend on that income.
import tariffs - they don't work. it's a global market. get used to it.

No, Capital Gains tax as earned income would be a progressive tax.

Only the wealthy would pay, only those who can afford to pay more would pay.

Of course import tariffs on manufactured gods would work.
The global market is manipulated every hour of every day... by China, Maylasia, Walmart, BP, India; what are you, a babe in the woods?
