LOL

Maybe he ought to try VOTING and stop traveling. He ought to bring his ASS to the South side of Chicago and talk about CHANGE. But then again, he dosen't really care; just wants their votes. Maybe we will get lucky and the Taliban will take care of him.

everyone should understand that this topic is one that the white racists and right-wing hate-mongers will immediately jump into, to vent their venom. They know nothing about foreign policy, or government or politics, but they feel compelled to contaminate every site they can with their poisonous remarks. We really need some research to find out how many undecided voters read these comments, and what their reactions are. also, how many fairly intelligent people read these comments and could learn something when highly-informed and analytical people contribute to the discussion by providing information (documented from reliable sources) and thoughtful analysis. It is easy to tell about the intelligence and the intentions of most of the commenters. The cheap shots, name-calling, stupid insults, and hateful remarks are easy to spot. So is a truly sincere effort to be helpful and analytical. Some commenters, of course, are really political operatives with an agenda - usually you find those are so-called "Hillary supporters" who are vicious toward Obama, and who claim they are forced to vote for McCain, rather than a Democrat, even though they have always voted Democratic before, etc.- the more over-the-top, or cleverly manipulative, those comments are, the more easily one can detect the post really comes from a right-wing Limbaugh-type dirty-tricks player who is trying to cause trouble. Please notice that I do not denounce people as being Republicans or conservatives, since many of those are honorable people, who have lost control of their party, partly because this right-wing alliance has no hesitation to use smears and dirty-tricks, as well as highly-motivated organization (usually centered around hot button, wedge issues)- to defeat the decent Republicans and conservatives in intra-party GOP struggles, for party leadership and in primary and caucus states. If I see any signs of intelligent life commenting on this topic, I would love to participate, but I expect it to be immediately infested with the hate-mongers (note the comment from C in Ill as typical example of that type.)

I notice that on the original story it was possible to post a comment directly, and that the lst comment also appears here -- only here one word was spelled out and on the site of the original article it was not. When I typed in my long comment on that site, it does not appear here (yet). I wonder why? I am not sure how the technology works - did Christine have to go to both the original article site and the topix site, and enter her comment? could there be two entirely different discussions going one, one on this topix site and one on the site of the original article? If so, it could be really fascinating, like an alternate universe of opinion, depending on what responses were provoked each time a new person took the discussion down a different track. Someone ought to try an experiment, and enter the same comment on multiple sites -- not a spam-type comment, but something that people would react to, and see where the discussion goes. I predict that the usual hate-Obama white racists and right-wingers will come in hot and heavy on this site, in order to try to discredit and disparage him where-ever they can. I will try to look in on both sites from time to time to see what happens. But I will also try to find the more intelligent discussion groups on more specialized foreign policy and political analysis sites. Some of the more prestigous institutions and think-tanks should prove a hospitable place for such discussion (censoring all the spam and insults the way they would at a discussion or panel where people appear in person, and not anonymously.) I don't mind the anonymous bit on topix, but it is used to allow some people to be the worst that they can be on some of the topix sites. Not the fault of topix - I would not advocate that they censor people very heavily. Let us see what sort of people take what sort of approach. We get the idea - there are nuts and extremists out there! But also well-meaning people, and very informed and analytical people. One can also see which candidate the different types support.

how interesting -- there was just a delay. my comment on the site of the article, has magically appeared here on topix while I was playing with ideas about alternate universes here. now I will go see if my comment here was posted on the original site. I'm a bit sorry to find out that there won't be a way to test my theory about alternate discussions. Guess one has to go to Huffington Post or somewhere, but that would be more predictable. Does topix have a monopoly on general discussions about everything? I really don't know and don't know how to find out -- OK, I'll try Wiki! this sound silly, but I can't help wondering whether - if I had quickly rushed from the original site to the topix site, and typed in something very short and immediately posted it, could I have gotten my two comments entered in reverse order on the two sites -- or would I foul up someone's computer?

I suppose my comment typed in on the topix site will soon appear here - how long is the time delay? how long before each site gets the comment posted on the other site?

am I going to get in trouble with posting police? a personreally can talk to herself/himself! check out the different order of the comments on the two sites. I hope all this is harmless and that I haven't given an idea to someone who can do it in a devilish way -- for me it is just a slow Saturday morning...

OK I'll go watch TV for a while - wine-making in Argentina - I swear I didn't have anything to drink (or eat) before doing this experiment -- maybe not enough sleep? Now I am forgetting which place - this is posted first on topix. Has anyone else tried this? Am I causing trouble for anyone. I don't mean to cause troube - I really don't understand the time delay.

It's interesting how he's so presumptive.. he speaks in terms as if he is already the President! That's supposed to have a psychological effect on the weak minded. his speech writers are some clever SOBs. but they just choose the wrong messenger.

The only 'Police' you will encounter here are the rabid self appointed thought/speech police of the left wing liberal puppets. as you can see, they troll every page on topix to correct and attack those that oppose their agendas.

does anyone remember the sorcerer's apprentice scene in Fantasia? this typed in on NBC 5 Chicago. Maybe at least this will interest people in going to the original story before commenting on other people's comments, without knowing what the original topic was reaallly about ----naaaaaw!

I am now watching a travel show on mountainclimbinb - I have vertigo and can't look. What I need is a good clock or stop-watch, or perhaps it requires two or three people on computers in the same place to compare notes. One thing that will make the difference - so my alternate discussion universe is not entirely moot - the time lapse and the different order of comments from one person, will allow for various other persons to get into the discussion, in response to the comments of other persons, and in reponse to my posts which are in a different order. I believe that intellectual playfulness is a sign of a healthy intellect (and sleepiness, possibly), Please warn me if there is anything potentially nefarious in this!

just commented onthe original article site again and beat it here! if you do this at home, be sure you have a deadline to go wsomewhere else or someone to stop you! Please note that I promoted the superior play-possibilities of Topix by praising the Jusdge-it characters or is it taboo to talk about the process of commenting, posting, judging? was my typo a Freudian slip - there is no link between Judge it and justice, I've found - it is just a poll of what types have found the site and which ones are too sleepy or bored to do anything except Judge it. maybe Judge it is just a poll of who is sleepy or grumpy that day,. and who is "bright-eyed and bushy-tailed." (oops, that may have been a Freudian slip also! where are people with a sense of humor. does anyone watch Colbert Report. I don't dare hit a Judge it character, because everyone will know it is me - am I the only liberal awake at this hour? or are the others all out walking or riding bikes?

Now that I have revealed that I am a "liberal" - dreaded word - I can venture some substance. Watch out for AP stories. Their Washington bureau has a big Bushie McCainie promotor in it -- there is a story about donuts (I am not kidding) and Karl Rove and McCain and an AP bureau (chief) in Washington DC, names Fournieeeer (pelling?). But I forgot the exact topix headline. sorry - have to find it again. Now I am watching travel in Spain - Moorish fountains and palace. Guess tha makes me a Muslim, or at least a Muslim-sympathizer, perhaps a terrorist trying to spread internet confusion? I'll bet no right-winger is either confused or amused about my game -- one thing I'll assume about right-wingers, I bet they understand technology a whole lot better than I do! I don't really bet much - that is old-fashioned Iowa farm slang , sorry, for you sophisticates. If anyone brilliant reads this, you can find me being serious at a site that combines the German language, derived from French language, derived from perfume in English - four-letter word for foreign city and tv station call letters.

I don't have astop watch or even a good, accurate clock , but Ric Steves just got through feeding bananas to moneys and is now trying to eat octopus and snails himself. And they say mankind hasn't deteriorated! Bananas much better for you - vetegarian too! I am not correcting typos, some are too funny. Please, someone technolgoically sophisticated, try this experiment with a watch and clock and co-conspirator, and report back. Yuk, snake charming in Tangier. I'm definately not a Muslim nor cozy with Arabs! no whirling dervishes either, or camel-riders. Maybe some gorgeous Italian actor with makeup on an Arabian horse - that's as close as I want to get. Desert, uck. Are you sure the people who are debunkers of global warming aren't secret Muslim sympathizers who want to turn the whole world into desert so they will have more room for camels? Think about it. A perfectly plausible conspiracy theory! I think the best way to time the experiment by what is one on TV is during the early part of a good basketball game, with a possession clock running.

oops, they speak French in Morocco - end of Rick Steves travel program. does this get posted on NBC5 before my comments about what he was doing in North Africa - you don't suppose Rick Steves is a fellow traveller, do you? tour guide, what a cover, for clandestine spying on other folks restaurantes (sounds like a French word, you think?) industrial espionage at beer-makers and wineries - I am kidding, but I do have to make fun of the conpiracy theorists from time to time, as well as pay attention to some of what they say at other times. there is a nice smorgasbord of (oops Swesdish term - probably socialist) a nice buffet (worse, maybe French word?)- a selection of conspiracy theories out there to select from - I dare not say select one from column A and one from Column B (sinister Chinese influence). When will the American nativists give up their fear of foreigners? When will white American racists give up their fear and hatred of African-Americans? When will African-Americans turn to JesseJ Jr. and Bill Cosby and Obama for role models, instead of crime-committing sports heroes?
