Please don't misunderstand my statement. I believe that the last two standing will be Janney and DeWitt. DeWitt could very well take the seat. Sutton is not the right representative for Cecil County. The others are just misfits in a low budget movie. If it was Sutton's idea to dig up the latest misfit, that goes to show how uneducated he is when it comes to politics. He is way out of his league and would be better off as an "anti-Janney" supporter than a candidate for Sheriff. To stay with the "familiar" is a basic response by voters when given too many choices.

Good points and I agree. The worst case scenario would be a replay of Janney v. Sutton. And you could be right about this new guy being Sutton's idea as we are not seeing the outrage from the Sutton camp as we did when DeWitt announced his candidacy.

I'm with you. I think a Janney - DeWitt contest would be much more interesting, and I would feel comfortable with either one winning.

Do you really think Skip DeWitt has the money to go up against Sutton, It's going to take some serious cash to mount a race against him. We all pretty much know the players and can make our decisions from the candidates’ but the average voters are just going to see Suttons big face on the billboards.
Someone should tell him that a guy his size should avoid close ups for a billboard that’s 30 feet wide...not flattering
I think Skip is the better man but lacks the cash....

Who has cash these days? Sutton should be embarrassed at the money he has blown on this election! I respect DeWitt for doing it the old fashioned way. Feet on the ground and knocking on doors. What a huge waste of money with those big billboards up and down rt 40! Where is Sutton getting all of the money to foot the bill on those? Premature evacuation on the signs! DeWitt is going to surprise a lot of people...and to think that Sutton has had all of these years to prepare.

I know Al Michael has been doing the same thing. He has been spending a little time each night, talking with people and putting up a few signs, also talking to different groups whenever he gets the opportunity. But I understand that Janney has anywhere from 70 to 80 thousand tucked away in his campaign fund and when he starts breaking that out it will bury Michael and Slater in the Primary. But I have also heard he’s just sitting on it, waiting on the election figuring there is no threat to him in the primary race. Al has a fund raiser scheduled later this month in North East. Hope that will help him some

I have read Al Michael's letter that he has posted on bulletin boards around the county and saw part of the forum on youtube. He seems like a nice man, and if I met him in person I would probably like him as I like my grandfather. His experience is antiquated, he is from another era. We need more up to date law enforcement experience and more energy.
I love my grandpa, but I wouldn't want him to be in charge of protecting my safety from criminals.

I think he could do a little better than that (a grand pa). He is certainly more up qualified as a administrator than anyone currently running and is up to date enough to be a college law Enforcement instructor. We need more than the current Pretty Boy or a Deputy who from what I hear is a questionable first line supervisor. But it doesn’t really matter he and Slater will split the anti-Janney vote enough to allow Janny to win.

Wake up everyone. Skip is not his father. Have you talked to anyone in this county. I agree he is well liked Hell I even like him, but his father had a great reputation. Skip on the other hand Not so great. i am not going to bash him on here or even open up th all of his dirty laundry, but just ask anyone randomly if they know skip and they will smerk and say "Oh Yeah I know him".
The latest thing to trash Mr. Sutton is him getting this new guy to run. Well like i have said before just ask him he will tell you the truth. He does not even know this person and as the local paper just showed you, he is focusing on beating the current Sheriff, as all of the rest of the candidates should be doing. Stop all of the bad mouthing and look at the platforms. Dewitt wants to enhance the things the current sheriff is doing. What is that nothing. There may have been an argument that Janney did good his first 4 years in office, But he has certainly fell off the planet this last 4. Time for a change a man with a plan and brining in good people around him. Good luck Mr. Sutton

PPPsssss...Local resident...AKA Sutton sucker. You bashed at the same time you said "not going to bash him". DeWitt can take Sutton without another candidate running. The new guy is a "no name". Don't you think that DeWitt would have, and could have, picked a bigger name to run against Sutton? I mean, between Janney and DeWitt, I am sure they could have plotted with a bigger name if they were really plotting against Sutton. Considering that "no name" is from the NW part of Cecil County, where Sutton has no chance of winning over Janney anyway, it would be more believable for Sutton to have "recruited" "no name" since he won't hurt him anyway...Dah. Suttons guilt to running a shady campaign is increased daily for every finger point he directs at DeWitt. You know the old saying...someone pointing the finger, is usually looking in the mirror. Sutton accussing DeWitt of bad mouthing is a joke and a fast cover for Sutton when he gets caught running his mouth.

So you say that Janney did a good job for the first four years but not the last. I think the idea of enhancing what the current Sheriff has implemented is a great direction for Cecil County. I don't see anything getting accomplished by the finger pointing Sutton. He points to the increase of crime and isn't it HIS JOB now to protect the citizens? Sheriff Janney isn't a one man law enforcement machine. Sutton is just as responsible for the crime increase as anyone else. His direct supervisory position is a critical role in the prevention of crime in our county. Maybe Sutton should pay more attention to the crime increase than he does his dog wash or campaign! I am starting to believe that he wants to be sheriff so bad that he has neglected his number one priority as a law enforcement officer. That's right, I went there.

Let me remind you that the only good person Sutton has chosen to be "around him" is Gerry Widdoes and I haven't seen him promoting Sutton as the next sheriff. I bet he is pretty humiliated with all of the negative campaign strategy of the Sutton camp. Is he really in it with Sutton or is Sutton just tossing his name around to look good?

I do believe has a point. Sutton keeps saying he wants to reduce crime------why isn't he out there helping. The sutton clan keeps bashing him about the crime in Cecil County, well get out there Sutton and help. Along with all your other so-called deputy friends! It's not just the Sheriff that needs to stop crime. Everyone is supposed to be working together. I can't imagine what this county would be like with someone like Sutton for a Sheriff and his admins. Now that's a joke! I respect Dewitt but I think Janney is the best man for the job. He and his admins have done a lot for the deputies and they will never be happy no matter who is the Sheriff----they will still want more. They are all crybabies. Enough said!!!!!!

I just wanted to comment that I am also amazed that the campaign slogan of a currently employed CCSO Deputy is about Making Cecil Safe Again..Why should I vote for this knucklehead who is part of the very team he is accusing of not getting the job done? He should release his own personal stats but I know he won't - you don't get stats for playing games and watching movies on the computer while sitting at the Duty desk waiting for the phone to ring...

Personally I believe CCSO has come a very long way and there are good deputies at CCSO working hard...the last thing they need is a guy who is not even a good Corporal becoming Sheriff...At least DeWitt works hard and has good sense. Cpl Sutton does not even have enough sense to know his own slogan is working against him!! He should have resigned and then ran if he feels the Sheriff's Office is in such bad shape!

Bahhhh Haaaaahhhhh Haaahhh!!!!!!!!!! If there was only a way to clean the lint out from the Sheriff's office! Sheriff Janney made a promise to do away with the "at will" policy and look at where it got him! A big lump of lint that causes more hate and discontent than a little. Causing so much bitterness and instigating a battle from within. Chris Sutton is the biggest morale wrecker that the Sheriff's office has ever employed. Maybe his slogan should be "Chris "lintball" Sutton for Sh*t Stiring Sheriff, an instigator from within!" I feel bad for DeWitt. He will be stuck with Chris Sutton on his roster for years and that isn't fair to him or any Sheriff that gets elected.

some people who followed some one over a cliff look at your history
we should challenge our leaders when things are in question so what Sutton is exercising his right. You don't disagree w/ the at will policy sounds like it should be called revenge policy
