A street-sweeping truck roaring down a Bronx street sucked up a dog and killed her as her owner held the leash.

1 Yep, as we speak the lawyers are circling overhead, maybe it's the cities fault because that darn sweeper truck driver swerved to snatch that critter up, or maybe the owner is at fault because he wasn't responsible enough by walking too near the street, but then the leash manufacture may have sold a defective product...In any case you can smell the scent of Money in the air! |

So sad for them both. He said it, "These dogs are his life". Some people are lonely and they turn to pets for love and comfort.
Sorry for his loss. |

1 Here's a novel idea, keep your pets out of the street- this is 100% the owners of the animals fault. All animals are fine when they are not in the street. But if it is in the street, and the street sweeper didn't kill it, it probably would have been the car behind the sweeper, and if you were driving the car- does that make you guilty for killing a dog in the street? |

1 yea, those street sweepers traval faster than the speed of sound, I guess theres no way to get out of there way. and far be it, from some sorry POS owner to pay attention to whats going on around him. wouldent surprise me if the guy did it on purpose , in order to get a free ride from the city. |

1 Yeah, for sure. I'm sure he raised this dog and came up with a plan. This dog looked to be about 5 years old. So he is really a master mind to think so far ahead. I wonder if he called the city to see the time that a sweeper would be rollin' his way. Welcome to la la land. |

What's wrong with people these days? Is it the deteriorating ozone layer than seems to making so many hateful?
I believe empathy may be a dying emotion in people. Empathy is the ability to put yourself in another's shoes, to feel what they feel, to think how you would feel if the same thing happened to you. Since none of us were there to witness the incident with the dog, all we can do is imagine how WE would feel if the same accident occurred to our pet. How hard is it to think how this man must have felt? Shock, horror, anger? Nothing that none of the rest of us would have felt in the same situation. What if that man and his dog had been a mother holding a child by the hand as she strapped another in a carseat? Do the streetsweeper drivers pay attention to what they're doing? If it's that easy for one to kill something then maybe they should not be on the roadways. Personally, I'm getting sick of the assumption-spawned hatefulness that seems to arise every time an accident arises. I hope the man does sue the city. They should hire streetsweeper drivers that watch what they're doing; and the city should be grateful it was a dog and not child that was killed. |

1 Don't be mad at me, owners should keep their dogs in their yard to poop, THEN take them for a walk. There is a lady that walks from her development to have her dog poop in our developement, picks up only a portion of it, then returns to her development. When I had a dog, I was considerate. Unfortunate for this dog it had a stupid owner. |

Sound like an unfortunate accident, instead of stupid. I would never thought that could happen. |

1 I wish people would keep their kids in their own yards, too. |
