When do schools assume legal responsibility for your children? At the school, on the bus, or at the bus stop? The latter is likely the best answer, but no one believes that it starts in your front yard, seventy feet away from the bus stop.

Suspended for playing with a toy gun on his own property???

Cited for a possession of a firearm?-huh, no fire comes out of a plastic toy gun. Also noted was a zero tolerance policy that supposedly can be applied to incidents on private property.

Besides an agenda driven Virginia Beach public school administrator imposing his will on these boys you also have a ninny/nosy neighbor who phoned police unable to tell the difference between a colored plastic toy gun and a real one.

Lawyer time. I would sue the school district and principal and sue to get the definition of firearm rewritten.

When "PROfessional" public school administrators attack.

Now there is conflicting information on wether or not the parents signed a waiver for the school to release information on the student/child or how much information.

It like the school administrators are acting as bullies. It sounds a like somebody from the school already had it in for the students in question. The schools attitude seems to be 'we got em now'

The students records were released by the school/district which is a privacy violation in many states. Juvenile records are supposed to be sealed.

It sounds like the school principal had it in for the one student in particular. First you have the so called "PROfessional" school administrators circling the wagons to protect and/or back one of their own. But now after seeing this story hit the news they now need to sway public opinion in their favor by "justifying" their actions by painting negative picture of the suspended student.

I get the impression the school principal was playing a game of got you rather than acting as professional educator and get this student through school. It was a power struggle between the principal and student in which the principal, the adult could not control his bias.

In the same week they suspend a student for a toy gun on private property a Virginia Beach teacher was arrested for sexual relations with a 17 year old student.

What the frack is going on in that school district? You mean to tell me this is the first time this teacher did this?
