I don't understand this "Stand Your Ground" law at all. IMO, it gives anyone the right to shoot another person, claim self-defense and walk away.

Were I on the Grand Jury I would look at these issues:

What did Mr. Zimmerman disobey the 9/11 operators told him not to follow the "suspect"?

Why was Mr. Zimmer carrying a loaded weapon with him? Did he have some idea in his head that he might have to shoot someone?

As a neighborhood watch captain, does he have the right to follow, track, confront or shoot someone HE considers 'suspicious'?

How big is Mr. Zimmerman? Trayvon Martin was 16 years old and probably didn't weigh 130 pounds wringing wet. Could this kid even remotely have overpowered Mr. Zimmerman without a weapon? Did Mr. Zimmerman truly fear for his life or might the gun have gone off accidently during a scuffle with Trayvon that he, Zimmerman, initiated?

And the big question for me. Did Zimmerman have ANY other choice to keep himself safe other than using his weapon? Did Trayvon attack Mr. Zimmerman in his car or did Mr. Zimmerman leave the safety of his car to confront Trayvon? The answer to that we all know. Zimmerman left his car and went after Trayvon. In my opinion, Zimmerman provoked the conflict and shot someone in the process. He is guilty of murder.

No, the law doesn't say that at all. Maybe you ought to go read the law first before opening your stupid yap?

Half right.

If this moron didn't have a gun he would have had a tough time killing the poor kid; because he may not have caught up to him; and it is pretty hard to beat someone to death in a few seconds.

Remember, it wasn't the gun that killed young Mr. Martin, it was the BULLETS from that gun. Any moron or criminal can get a gun in many states. I'm sorry that so any people are happy with that.
The (other) real criminals? Scalia' kangaroo Supreme Court, the Florida legislature, and Jeb Bush.

Please tell me, what WELL ORGANIZED MILITIA was this Zimmerman with when he went out hunting black boys?

This is exactly what happens when the US Supreme Court violates the US Constitution for their own political predjudices.

I should think that the Florida police should read the law; because that is their interpretation.

They have destroyed much of the forsenic evidence. That entire police officer cadre, the management, and homicide squad should all be fired for criminal incompetance.

A person who is not authorized police powers may not detain or arrest anyone unless that person has committed a felony in their presence.

The "Stand Your Ground" law does not apply in this case - Zimmerman was told to by the police dispatcher to NOT pursue - Trayvon was not committing any crime, he was not breaking into any apartment, stealing any car or attacking another person - he was walking through the neighborhood with the hood of his jacket pulled up against the rain. Zimmerman was out doing his "neighborhood patrol" thing and this was his chance to be a "hero" (I'm sure he saw black + male + teenager + hoodie = criminal). If he'd left it at his 911 call and let the Sanford police do their job, Trayvon would be still be alive. There's a huge difference between the law-abiding gun owner who defends a convenience store clerk being held up by a thug and a wannabe vigilante out looking for trouble and creating it when he couldn't find it.

The law does no such. It is a good law. It is just a matter of enforcing it against those who misuse it. Misuse of law is extremely rare to almost non-existent.

Right now there is plenty probable cause to charge Zimmerman with acting outside of gun law and violating Trayvon's legal rights.

What we are seeing is institutionalized police policy being carried out. It is the way certain situations are routinely handled by the institution of the police.

Wrong.

The police did apply the "Stand Your Ground" law; and there is innocent blood on the ground. It is as simple as that.

Just how stupid are you?

This young man was murdered under the aegis of the "Stand Your Ground" law; and the killer was let free by the investigating police.

HOW STUPID ARE YOU?

You're confused, the addition of weapon doesn't grant an person authority to make lawful detentions or arrests unless a felony is committed in the presense of that person.

When a person lacks such authority, their action constitutes a crime, possibly several. Regardless, SYGL does not authorize any person to detain anybody at all.

Maybe you should actually read the text of the SYGL before you open your stupid yap?
