Two examples of what went wrong and what is still going wrong.

Obamacare and immigration.

Despite a defeat here in Florida of a Constitutional Amendment exempting Florida from mandated health care, our Gov. Rick Scott is still insisting he will not implement Federal law here in Florida.

On the other side, at least one Tea Party Leader, Sean Hannity himself now says his views on immigration have "evolved". Not more than 30 days ago he was still mocking President Obama over his "evolving" views on SSM.

So we have one who sees the tide has changed and one who is willing to sink his State for he own personal benefit.

I think Obamacare will be to medical care what DADT was to military integration. The proper system is single-payor. Living under it, I know it is not perfect, but it is much better than what exists now in the US. That is born out by statistics showing a significantly longer life expectancy here, EVEN when the stats. are limited to white folks or adjusted for ethnic balance.

You're what's wrong with the US. "reigns"? Go suck his d*ck surf. Many say a,3rd party vote was, wasted but it is no more wasted than a vote for the looser. We 3rd party voters won our own battle, that day. Gary Johnson had well over 1,100,000 votes. The current system is rigged on both side & mainstream media has got slaves on 2 sides fighting each other. Dumbass mindless drones who dare to call themselves Americans because they fell out of a p*ssy out in Tx or whatever. Washington's Farewell Address 1796

http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/washi...

"In looking forward to the moment which is intended to terminate the career of my public life, my feelings do not permit me to suspend the deep acknowledgment of that debt of gratitude which I owe to my beloved country for the many honors it has conferred upon me; still more for the steadfast confidence with which it has supported me; and for the opportunities I have thence enjoyed of manifesting my inviolable attachment, by services faithful and persevering, though in usefulness unequal to my zeal. If benefits have resulted to our country from these services, let it always be remembered to your praise, and as an instructive example in our annals, that under circumstances in which the passions, agitated in every direction, were liable to mislead, amidst appearances sometimes dubious, vicissitudes of fortune often discouraging, in situations in which not unfrequently want of success has countenanced the spirit of criticism, the constancy of your support was the essential prop of the efforts, and a guarantee of the plans by which they were effected. Profoundly penetrated with this idea, I shall carry it with me to my grave, as a strong incitement to unceasing vows that heaven may continue to you the choicest tokens of its beneficence; that your union and brotherly affection may be perpetual; that the free Constitution, which is the work of your hands, may be sacredly maintained; that its administration in every department may be stamped with wisdom and virtue; that, in fine, the happiness of the people of these States, under the auspices of liberty, may be made complete by so careful a preservation and so prudent a use of this blessing as will acquire to them the glory of recommending it to the applause, the affection, and adoption of every nation which is yet a stranger to it."...

that America knows a lousy candidate when they hear him go back and forth on every issue. maybe they don't love Obama, but they trusted mittens less. the Republicans have to go back to pre-Reagan years, and be moderates who work together instead of pandering to the loudest jerks. They listened to the volume of the screaming without seeing the quantity of people behind it. stop pandering to the far right. it doesn't work anymore.

but not to worry, Repubs are already working on plans to rig 2016, have no doubt about that. If you can't win fair and square, then rig the election.

Tell it to the 25% unemployed Black youth. You know? It's going to get worse. Businesses will close. You're not going to be able to outright steal from people and not have them resist.

the bottom line is this America has 390 million people in its borders.. 130 million voted... certainly not a majority by any means ...a little over half went to obama and he claims today a majority of america wants him to raise taxes, and not cut spending...I don't know about anyone else but 390-67 =323 million that did not agree with either party...
I agree with obama MATH is not his strong suit , just like creating jobs...now spending our money with nothing to show for it...he's a master..at least we know when he's gone what he will be teaching next..

Yeah, right... Is that why Canadians with potentially-terminal illnesses such as cancer or severe heart trouble flock to the U.S. for care? Is that why my pregnant daughter (married and living in interior Canada) was told to "be prepared to go to Wyoming (USA)" for delivery when her labor pains start?[Because Canadian facilities in her major city are usually too crowded to care for her.] Is that why moms wait up to 6 and 7 hours in Waiting Rooms with their sick children to see a doctor? Is that why, when symptoms indicate an MRI or Cat-scan is needed, the wait-time is 30-60 days? Yeah, JohnInToronto, you've got a great system there and, thanks to Obummer, it's on it's way to a country near you!

Who specifically told your daughter to go the the US - is she a permanent resident? Is she covered?

In any case, I did not say the system was perfect but it works much better than the US on the whole. If you have health care through an employer in the US and can choose your own doctor without being forced in managed care, good for you. If also you don't give a shit about the poor folks there (usually the working poor) who don't have medical coverage, then you are showing your typical American selfish colours. As for people "flocking" to the US for medical care, I certainly have not seen much evidence of that. Emergency rooms in the US also can have 6-7 hour waits and Canada (at least Ontario) has been reducing them. As for waiting for an MRI, one should remember that MRI machines are enormously overused in the US because the companies that run MRI labs want to suck in money to pay off the damn things. Most of the time, an ultra-sound or X-ray can be substituted. I needed an ultra-sound last week and had no wait time at all - the were lots of appointments open. And when the need for MRI or CT Scan is legit, in most cases where people have to wait for a few months, it is not for cancer or emergencies but for things that are not emergency. Same with surgery. My housemate and ex-partner waited about four months to have his gall bladder removed because the stones were still in the gall bladder and not in the duct. Hence though a bit uncomfortable, he was not in severe pain and it was not emergency. When it was done the care was fine.

Most of the problems in the Canadian medical system are caused by two issues that have little to do with the single payor system. First, doctors leave this country for the US because even though they are well paid here, they are a greedy lot and always want more. Second, especially in Ontario, protectionism and credentialism in the medical field prevent well-qualified immigrant doctors and nurses (people who would have no problem passing the medical boards in the US) from practicing. These problems are due to lack of government regulation of medical associations and the somewhat closeted xenophobia of a large number of white Anglo Canadians. They are not related to the single-payor system.

The results of this Election have taught me that I can no longer assert, for the time being, that "the masses are asses." Finally many people saw through the asinine republican agenda of those two 'idiots,' Romney/Ryan. Perhaps there is still hope for US?

This election teaches us that if half the US population was in space, they'd try to cook peas in an open pot. Is it true 47+ Million Americans can now spend their food stamps at fast food restaurants?
