This whole thread was poisoned from the git go on post #1. It was about the loss of life, much like the other thread we are in. Yet it has become about Christianity and the pursuit of bashing them. Ya know, I think Topix should change its name to "Bash~a~Christian". I am not in for bashing other's ideals in this short life, yet some people do all they can to harass and intimidate others every chance they get. I may disagree, but name calling and the sort is in poor taste. I am not referring to you, I am just carrying on. |

But if you title it Bash a Christion, you will have the wrath of hell on you! There realy are to many people allowed to get on the net, who in my opinion shouldnt untill they can demonstrate even a cognative thought. Not trying to bash anyone, but I think you know what I mean. We have the extremests that actualy scare the hell outa me cause they truly believe in their excuse term but twisted thoughts, with out consideration of an open mind and willingness to consider to hear someone elses view. Not sure how far in you have read, but I try realy hard to avoid politics, religion, and my friends women, as those are the rules to a succesful debate I believe! |

of course thos rules change if you are truly discussing any of them other then friends women, in which case one should probably expect to get the shit knocked outa them!
I use to engage in politics and religion with a friend, we both truly knew the others views, but for sake of the debate, and the desire to press each other into sticking to which ever side we chose right or wrong, but to defend that view wholeheartedly. Of course it was never a personal issue, it was merely for the debate in which we both excelled at, sad to say though we found him dead at the kitchen table of a heart attack. Never met anyone who COULD BE DEVILS ADVOCATE any better, and damn I tried! Though when that was the side I took I held my own well. We always ended the debate with a good "cigerette"break, and a hand shake til the next time. |

I am not for bashing anything, but there is another topic that I am presently involved in that has gon awry, not to fault myself, but when one is told they are flat out wrong, and the person starts in on you, sometimes you have to oblige them at their game to make the point! |

As for this topic. My wife and I closely monitor such events across the nation, as we are both on a team that can be called at anytime day or night, and then we get on a plane withen 4 hours and respond to such events. My heart goes out to everyone who finds themself in a disaster, as I have been through many as I generaly get there just before the event so as I can be in place as soon as safe to render assistance, known as a forward team. Of course with present issue of child, we both have stood down for the last month, and for the future couple of months.
I have been through quakes, fires floods, hurricanes of interesting size, gas well explosions in the south, and have had the opportunity to travel abroad as well as extensively in this country on such events, what an amazing country we have for sight seeing too. |

I usually remove a topic from my list when it gets to be too absurd to carry on. However lately Topix has been having glitches, and the topics do not actually remove from my list. Anyone else having this problem? I then rely on my inner strength to avoid getting sucked back in. |
You are quite possibly right. After all, I don't think their are any books missing from Winnie the Pooh, but there are those who disagree! |

Are these lost books of the Bible? There is much talk these days about lost books of the Bible. From cults to the New Age, people make all sorts of claims about how the Bible is missing books, books that help justify what they hope to believe. Sometimes people claim that the Bible was edited to take out reincarnation, or the teaching of higher planes of existence, or different gods, or ancestor worship, or "at-one-ment" with nature. The "lost books" were never lost. They were known by the Jews in Old Testament times and the Christians of the New Testament times and were never considered scripture. They weren't lost nor were they removed. They were never in the Bible in the first place. The additional books were not included in the Bible for several reasons. They lacked apostolic or prophetic authorship, they did not claim to be the Word of God; they contain unbiblical concepts such as prayer for the dead in 2 Macc. 12:45-46; or have some serious historical inaccuracies. Nevertheless, the Roman Catholic church has added certain books to the canon of scripture. In 1546, largely due in response to the Reformation, the Roman Catholic church authorized several more books as scripture known as the apocrypha. The word apocrypha means hidden. It is used in a general sense to describe a list of books written by Jews between 300 and 100 B.C. More specifically, it is used of the 7 additional books accepted by the Catholic church as being inspired. The entire list of books of the apocrypha are: 1 and 2 Esdras, Tobit, Judith, the Rest of Esther, the Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach,(also titled Ecclesiasticus), Baruch, The Letter of Jeremiah, Song of the Three Young Men, Susanna, Bel and the Dragon, The Additions to Daniel, The Prayer of Manasseh, and 1 and 2 Maccabees. The books accepted as inspired and included in the Catholic Bible are Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees Wisdom of Solomon Sirach (also known as Ecclesiasticus), and Baruch The Pseudepigraphal books are "false writings." They are a collection of early Jewish and "Christian" writings composed between 200 BC and AD 200. However, they too were known and were never considered scripture. The deuterocanonical (apocrypha) books are those books that were included in the Greek Septuagint (LXX) but not included in the Hebrew Bible. The recognized deuterocanonical books are "Tobit, Judith, Wisdom of Solomon, Ecclesiasticus (also called Sirach or Ben Sira), Baruch (including the Letter of Jeremiah), 1 and 2 Maccabees, and additions to the books of Esther and Daniel. The canon of the Greek Orthodox community also includes 1 Esdras, the Prayer of Manasseh, Psalm 151, and 3 Maccabees, with 4 Maccabees as an appendix."1 __________ 1. Not sure who your comment is directed at, but I wasnt expecting an apology, however on the topic of religion, isnt it best served in the religous topics? I would think that a lot of time is spent talking about religion, and would probably be better served on the topic,"was jesus, sent here to be crusified"! but then again, what do I know, I came here thinking it was aboutht the spring storms tearing up the midwest and southern states! |
