Accordingly, our U. S. Constitution is dated:(1) from the birth of Christ, and (2) from the birth of our independence (Article. VII.). Secondly, the Constitution requires the President and Congress to respect "the Christian Sabbath" (Sunday) as a day "excepted" from governmental business (Article. I. Section. 7.). Thirdly, the First Amendment prohibits the U.S. Congress from making any law "respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." In other words, the federal government has no right to interfere with the free expression of religion (by individuals or States) in any shape, manner, or form. Fourthly, Article. VI. of the Constitution prohibits any religious test as a qualification for public office.

Good point. Thanks. BTW, my comments to you yesterday, were more about how you chose to express yourself more than what you chose to express.

so a thesis comparing the similarities between Christianity and other ancient religions at the time Christianity was started would involve research into the beliefs of those other religions, documenting them and then comparing them to christian beliefs.....
well DUH!
A thesis then has to be defended, usually against a panel of 3 professors whose speciality is in the area of the thesis, validating its assertion
so the Jesus Mysteries is a thesis doing just that. You can't change the facts.
So yes trying to argue with someone uneducated is very difficult, but I try anyway
You know I don't care how smart you are or think you are,or if you believe in God or not.
You will never convince me or most of the other posters here that God does not exist, and I know you are too blind and close minded to believe that God does exist.
So why don't you give it a rest, and go find somewhere else to spew your hate.I'm sure with all the threads Topix has there is one just special for you to go spread your non-belief.

I just love it when a person continues to argue, when the point is moot. You made reference to one book that was fiction, then you referred to another that was meant as a thesis, not as a proven fact or scientific theory. I can debate with you all day and night about theology, but you would continue your rhetoric. I have to admit, you're hard headed. The Bible, unlike the Jesus mysteries, is based on historical facts. The miracles cannot be proven, that is a matter of faith. In Corinthians, It flat out states that Christians believe by faith, not by sight. Although some have made it one for their own greedy reasons, Christianity is NOT a religion, it is a Faith. Spirituality and Faith, cannot be compared to religion, they are no where the same. Your denial that God exists, is a self denial, to convince yourself, for whatever reason you might have. Some people deny God, so that they can do as they please and never have to answer for their deeds, safe that way. What your reason is, I won't disrespect you by venturing to guess. But when you find "True evidence" that shows that the Bible is wrong, please post is and I will read.

You are sorely lacking in debate etiquette #101.

Give yourself a virtual pat on the back, boy. I get the distinct impression from your comments such as this one, you feel somewhat superior in thought.

Good Morning CP,and CB.

I agree it's useless even trying to debate someone with a closed mind.

I don't claim to be good at debating, because I know I'm not.I know what I believe and that's all that matters to me.

This is for all the fundies on this board like GS and Cherokee who use Jesus as a tool to spread hatred:

Listen children to a story
that was written long ago
Bout a kingdom on a mountain
and the valley far below
On the mountain was a treasure,
buried deep beneath the stone
And the valley people swore
they'd have it for their own.

So go ahead and hate your neighbor,
go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of heaven,
you can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing,
come the judgment day
But on the bloody morning after,
one tin soldier rides away.

So the people from the valley
sent a message up the hill
Asking for the buried treasure,
tons of gold for which they'd kill
Came an answer from the kingdom,
"with our brothers we will share
All the secrets of the mountain,
all the riches buried there."

Now the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses, draw your swords"
And they killed the mountain people,
so they won their just rewards
Now they stood beside the treasure,
on the mountain, dark and red
Turned the stone and looked beneath it,
"Peace on earth" was all it said.

<quoted text>GS, Can you please explain and or rationalize what "good Christians" perpetrated on non white peoples often in the name of "God". Namely Native American Indians and eventually enslaved Black Africans. Few of the founding fathers considered either of these aforementioned peoples equals. Please enlighten me if my understanding of American History is flawed. I am genuinely trying to understand.
The ways of the people in history, was based solely on ignorance. There is no logical reason for the way that certain peoples were treated. But to hang on to the past, is a crippling thing that can ruin your life and hold you and your people down, to the point of non-advancement. Too many minorities use the past as a crutch, to blame the present day government for their failures. The past is the past. My people have learned to forgive the past, not to be confused with "forget", because we will never forget. If you take a negative event from the past and learn from it, it is no longer a negative thing, it is positive. So to puzzle over past crimes against the people, is to stagnate the people.

Where have I ever used Jesus to spread hatred? When have I ever spread hatred? Who have I spread hatred toward? How have I spread hatred? AND What the hell are you talking about? You obsessed with me for days on end, with your foul words and vile, vulgar ways and expressions. I returned in like and that is all.

Wow
You know absolutely nada about Jesus or you would never have posted this particular song. It sounds more like something Jesus would have written himself.

You should take yourself and this song over to a Muslim thread and post it there. But I doubt that they will get the message.

You may be strong in your beliefs, but you have always had an open mind to other peoples views, when it is backed up by fact and conviction. I have never seen you write a post that totally condemned another person's beliefs, which shows both intelligence and class. BTW, you are very good at holding your own in a debate.(Princess)
