A well-written opinion. Now that there is a bright line at the most critical point, it is possible to intelligently debate other alternatives that do not cross that line.

Compare this to the current problem of "gay marriage" in California. A public referendum drew a line several years ago. But it was not bright enough, and the legislature promptly eroded it by negating every intent except for the word "marriage" itself. Then, the state court ruled that "marriage" had to be added. The slippery slope had slipped to the maximum.

Following Mr. Helmke's logic, the Brady Campaign will cease seeking an outright ban. Howeever, they will endeavor to make licensing and registration requirements so onerous, that ordinary citizens will never be able to comply. Hence, by those deceptions, they will disarm the people.

If you can't keep weapons out of prisons, how on earth do you expect to keep weapons out of the general population?

Dear Jane, they can "endeavor" all they want, but in the end, they will only disarm the "sheeple". I'm keeping my little pink Glock, thank you very much.

Paul Helmke should be ashamed that he makes his living by undermining our constitution, our liberty, and our safety. Selling us out by spreading ignorance and fear in order to raise money -- shame on you! You make me so angry! Con man! Traitor!
