What do you all think about the team being called the SF Bay Earthquakes to attract and expand a regional fanbase? This may also be more appealing to MLS because SF is an internationally recognized destination city.

If im not mistaken, the indoor soccer league had that name back in the '80's. Or was it the California Earthquakes?

As long as San Jose gets a the team back with the same logo, it's all good, the bay is the bay. We don't need to change it, we are well known already.

Change the logo (look at the Chivas USA logo, nicest in the league), change the name, give it an international look! example: Atletico San Jose, C.D. San Jose, etc

Pepe, Your blog reflects a knowledge of the game worldwide BUT NOT in San Jose...You would have to have been in the CASBAH during a comeback from a 0-4 aggregate deficit to understand...WE ARE THE EARTHQUAKES!!!!! Yeah, in roughly 90 minutes (mid 1st half to Golden Goal winner in OT) we scored 5 goals to beat the LA Galaxy 5-4 on our way to our second MLS Cup...a week later we hosted the conference championship and scored 2 goals in the last 15 minutes to win 3-2 over Kansas City....and so many other memories, and gatherings with City Hall, and sending e-mails to politicians and people who could support our dreams...to get back our QUAKES!!!!

Don't worry - Quakes will be gone by 2010 so the name does not matter.

There will be no deal for a stadium by the airport..... The deal is dead!

I kinda would like the name - Club San Jose. Simple, straight forward, and has kind of a latin flair. Kinda like Club Santos Laguna type thing.
