The Mississippi governor has the power to select anyone he want to suceed U.S. Sen. Trent Lott in the Senate.

Since he just won re-election and cannot run for governor again (due to term limits), do you think he will or should select himself to the vacant U.S. Senate seat?

Is the lieutenant governor of the state also a republican? If so, it makes it easy for him to do so.

I would very much like to hear from native Mississipians, on this matter.
