After milking the public as dry as he could he has finally hit the jackpot and found the golden calf $$$$$.

More money is the only reason he is giving up his current cash cow job.

Even though I didn't always agree with the guy, Lott represents the old guard of the senate where oppossing forces still were cordial to each other. Same with Warner. Interesting to see what will happen with yet another Republican retirement.

Thank God, and thank YOU, Trent!

It's about time!

Don't let the senate chamber doors hit your duplicitous posterior on the way out.

Now maybe a true conservative can represent Mississippi, now.

About time that old fool leaves. Not a true conservative. He has been out of touch with the people for a long time. Probably afraid of a primary defeat.

Trent will surely be missed by his fellow senators.

But he will not be missed for very long.

He will be back with them pitching ideas and plans as a lobbyist.

The tactic is pretty clear at least. Lott goes a few months early so his former aide Chip Pickering has time to get himself established in the seat, against a very tough and well-funded Democratic candidate. By going early and letting the Republican governor appoint Pickering now, he turns a lean-Dem seat into a lean-GOP. Much in the way that Mayor Daley's allies resign from the council a few months before an election to let the Mayor's preferred appointed replacements get themselves established.

Don't let the door hit your loser ace on the way out, you enemy of the state.

I'd jump ship too if I were part of the group that ruined this once great nation and will be viewed by history as one of the most infamous, disastrous things this nation has ever had to endure.

Oh yeah, having "worked" in government disservice for so long, where mediocrity and laziness are rewarded and raises come automatically, I just want to remind you that in the private arena, bosses actually have EXPECTATIONS, and sanctimony is rarely a marketable asset. You actually have to EARN your raises, and "responsibility" and "accountability" are more than really long buzzwords that you can use to exploit stupid people into supporting you.

I hope that this loser is held to the same standards anyone else is in the private employment arena - because if that's the case, a piece of trash like this won't last long.

Good thing he's old enough to retire and double-dip GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS.

Leave NOW and end your disservice to this country, Lott.

Maybe he should write a book about how the moon is made of pastrami and win an emmy and Nobel Peace Prize.......
