We need some conservative leadership, not someone who votes with ted (the driver) kennedy.

Amen Preach brother Joe!!! Alexander has breakfast with some of the biggest libs in the Senate every week and does not care for the Tennessee he left behind. I pray a real conservative will oppose him in the primary I will cetainly get behind them.... Makes Sasser look Like Scrooge!!!!

Aside from the other drawbacks with Sen. Alexander, he is up for re-election in 2008. That isn't exactly the best time to be putting him into a leadership position, in the event that he were to lose his election next year. That is about like Tom Daschle being ousted from the Senate, when we was the minority leader for his party.

And, Lamar is rather soft on some key issues, like securing the border, pork barrel spending, etc. that could make him vulnerable. The Democrats have two high profile people that may be looking to make a run against him in the general election. As it stands now, Alexander is unopposed in the Republican Primary.

If he wants to lead why didn't he do something while pres of UT or while commish of education or while in other top jobs? Why not let him lead UT's band Saturday?

Lamar is heading down the Sasser highway right now. His only hope for reelection is to go right and start voting like a conservative! He needs to be introducing anti-gun control, strong immigration (border security, not amnesty), control spending, etc., or he is toast!

The repubs have a good opportunity the next election, but they have to put forth people who don't agree with hillary and ted kennedy most of the time! I think that Thompson would be a shoo-in, if he just had the cajones to take strong conservative stands on immigration, gun control, etc. Otherwise, we will end up with hillary vs. the guy wearing the women's clothes who has ALWAYS been on the wrong side of most issues like gun control!

To be honest I don't think that there is a good Conservative in Washington DC at all. Remember that most of the people in Washington where educated as lawyers in Socialists colleges and universities. Look at Hillary in 1971 she worked for a law firm or whatever you call them that represented the American Communist Party.
