Good. The government has no business setting ANY wages for the private sector.

If the govt can set a minimum wage, then there is nothing to prevent them from setting a MAXIMUM wage.

Do you really want the govt telling your employer how much they can pay you?

Bogus ‘Moderate’ Susan Collins Plans to Vote Down Min Wage Increase

Collins herself has voted for some minimum wage increases in the past, but increasingly she has abandoned any pretense of moderation, choosing instead to vote the party line and stick it to the American worker.

barnabas collin's and the con's only hope is to keep the American worker beaten down. Remember who killed it, is right.

If working a full time job still leaves you below the poverty line, something is terribly wrong. If America prides itself at being just and fair, those words ring hollow when we allow this.

Look at the ignorant parrot talking Liberals in this forum. The Liberals controls the Senate and can pass the bill and yet they are still blaming the GOP because it can't pass. The real truth is that the Liberals don't have all their people on board to get it pass because those Liberals running for reelection don't want this to back fire on them, but of course lemmings like the two posters above parroting their masters on the left because they can't think for themselves.

The minimum wage bill just failed in the Senate, mainly because they couldn't get the 60 votes needed, thanks to the Republican senators.
You won't approve a living wage for these people, yet you want their vote. Rotsa ruck.

It was a bi-partisan defeat of the bill; Dems voted it down, too.

I a, so sorry that they could raise your min wage of 7$ at the ditch digging job you have had for 30 yrs because you are to damn stupid to get a real education like most Americans do, but that might mean having to pay taxes for once.

The minimum wage in Illinois is $8.25/hr.(already higher than Federal minimum wage)
http://www.minimum-wage.org/states.asp...

The unemployment rate in Illinois is 8.4%.
http://www.deptofnumbers.com/unemloyment/illi...

It's a no-brainer to see which way the unemployment rate will go if the minimum wage is increased.

The dems who voted against raising the minimum wage should be drummed out of the party. Every time a raise in the minimum wage is proposed the rethugs have a hissy fit. They always claim jobs will be lost but it has never happened. They have been spouting the same line of bullshit for decades and not a word of it is true!

A majority (54) of the senators voted for the bill, but not the 60 needed to prevent a filibuster. All Republicans except one voted to block the bill. Very even-handed. Boy,you've got guts!

Yes, dumbass:

"Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.), who supports the legislation, taking the procedural step of voting against the bill so that he can reintroduce it at a later time."

Go back to fux and be good little no information voter.

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that the bill would raise the wages of 16.5 million Americans and lift 900,000 of them out of poverty.

Right on, Careybelle! 73% of the American people favor raising the minimum wage. If you can be that clueless, you need to comb your face.
