If Steven's survived this crash, this would be his second plane crash that he survived? If he survived, he needs to buy a lotto ticket.

I was no fan of Ted Stevens in the Senate. However he did serve his country as a transport pilot in the Burma India theater during World War 2. He survived a Lear Jet Crash in the 70's that killed his wife. RIP.

Initial report by MSNBC of Stevens being among the dead "was not confirmed".

3 people currently being transorted to a hospital.

Ironically, Stevens wife died in a plane crash 10-years ago...

Not to be harsh, but no one lives forever, and didn't he rip us off

Stevens' standing in Alaska was toppled by corruption allegations and a federal trial in 2008. He was convicted of all seven counts -

Too bad Sarah was not sitting on his lap! And Dick Cheney in the seat next to him. Could've been 3 for 1 and I would've taken the day off and handed out candy to neighborhood kids.

Once again the far left has shown their true colors by their lack of respect for the dead and for their family members in their time of grief.

It's funny how corrupted politicians are raised up as virtuous public servants after their death.

Yes, it is sad that he died and his family is mourning.

This guy was the king of pork barrel politics and billions were needlessly spent while he ran the appropriations committee. And we wonder why our debt keeps growing and growing and growing...

democrat losers always wish in one hand and poop in the other and are stup-e-fied that the hand with the poop fills up first, each and every time. Which, by the way, happens to be the definition of insanity.

Ted Stevens came to be the face of pork-barrel spending, forever tied to the "Bridge to Nowhere" project. The island that the $400 million bridge was to be built to is home to about 50 residents. Yeah, that sounds kinda wasteful.

Here's the part that you don't hear about in most news stories:
That island also happens to hold Ketchikan International Airport. Not the busiest airport in the country, but still it's certainly worth having it connected to mainland. It was never a "bridge to nowhere", it was a bridge to an international airport so you wouldn't have to wait an hour or two for a boat to come and pick you up.

And for whatever it's worth, this is one of the main jobs of all politicians: to get federal funding to provide jobs in their district. When a Southern California defense company gets a big contract, do you call that wasteful? Most people don't. That's called helping the economy and keeping jobs local. "Pork-barrel" spending is what you call it when someone in a DIFFERENT state wins a contract to boost THEIR local economy.

Don't make this to be a "far left" issue. Even though I'm fairly moderate, I probably am "far left" according to your scale.

Being an insensitive jerk is not exclusive to the far left or far right.
