Sen Ted Stevens nor the State of Alaska will ever recover from the loss of our beloved "Uncle Ted". How one human being can dedicate his whole life, so selflessly, to better the lives of so many, for so long, and then, by the power of the media, corup legal system and the opposing power/party be so publicly soiled, tainted, dishonored and denegraded leads me to believe there are greater forces a foot than what meets the eye. We are not being told the whole story! And, Mark Begich, to say,"it's time for Sen Stevens his family and Alaskans to move on and put this behind us", GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! How dare you!!! I cannot believe you would put this in print!!! To further say,"I always said I didn't think Senator Ted Stevens should serve time in jail...is the case". This is so wrong on so many levels I will not even dignify a response. And. I think of the awful, filty ads the Democratic party fill our airspace and what di you do about it? The nobel thing for you to do is first appologise to the Senator and his family, next to the people of Alaska and then the rest of the world.

Stevens is a convicted felon who got off on a technicality. The only way to change that is to being charges again and another jury finds him "not guilty". The attorney general only said that the attorneys did not do their job. He did not say that Stevens was not guilty. There were seven charges and not all of the evidence is tainted. It's over Uncle Ted is free to run again in 2014. Stevens was convicted of a felony. He was found guilty by a jury. Getting off on a technicality removes the conviction from his record. The technicality does not remove the evidence that he was convicted on from the memory of all Alaskans. He got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and the attorneys for the U.S. were guilty of misconduct so he got away with his crimes. We all lose!

Bush's Attorney General was Responsible for the Stevens trial. The current attorney general had the guts to throw it out. Bush's lacky counted the trial as a victory and had no spine to confess to his and his employee's incompetence.

Make sure to blame the proper idiot.

I couldn't agree with you more. Show me a single politician who isn't corrupt. They spend millions to run for office because they like the voters. Oh, sure, and the policeman is your friend.

After reading these posts I'm left to conclude that some of you never even managed to make it out of grade school(mymymy).
The real story here is the total incompitence of the people who prosecuted this case and the effect it has had in changing the national political balance through fraud and corruption by BOTH major parties.
If you're a party hack you will continue to elect party hacks.

It is a sad story .. evidence was illegally withheld and then hidden and false evidence presented and the Injustice Department does not even say, "Sorry. we defamed your name and lost an election for you." And now I have less respect for Mark Begich whose statement is so weak and still assumes guilt...so so sad when injustice serves politics and politcians are more concerned with might than right.

Stevens was not proven innocent. It was proven he didn't have a fair trial - which he didn't. Those responsible should be disbarred.

I voted for Begich because we need a change. It is time for Stevens to retire and enjoy his golden years. It is sad that such an illustrious career had to end under such a cloud.

Asking Begich to "step down" is assinine!!!! If anyone should step down it should be Palin. Ruedrch should be right behind her.

Let's see if they can come up with someone from their party in 4 years who can beat Begich. I don't think so.

They better concentrate on getting Palin re-elected - she has lost my vote when she ran for VP and her actions since then.

I have herd Ted`s voice all my life and that was his voice talking to Bill about knowledge of a crime. And has enough gaul to say who are you going to believe me or your lying ears.Is it or is it not every ones civic duty to report a crime upon knowledge of it, so what`s his excuse.
