All of the congress is corrupt, what else do you expect? Well, Ron Paul would be the only one I'd say wasn't guilty of selling-out justice and the US.

What evidence was withheld?
When did prosecutors know about this evidence?
How did it become known that evidence was withheld?
Noting Stevens' age, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said,''He's already been punished enough.''

Stevens was convicted of seven felony counts of lying on Senate financial disclosure forms to conceal hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts and home renovations from a wealthy oil contractor.

What particular "high crime or misdemeanor" that that would warrant impeachment do you have in mind?

Also, impeachment proceedings come out of the Congress, not the DOJ

The courts being used as an extension of politics is a practice that has to be stopped.
Let's put this way we hope they can stop them, but truthfully I think we are too late????

Former Senator Ted Stevens is clearly a victim of politicized evil Justice Department who was doing everything to destroy the Republican Senator and transfer more power to the Democrats.
The American people should be disgusted with the efforts of the fascistic media of the anarchist Bolshevik George Soros and his lying and deceiving media that is using false accusations of GOP politicians in their effort to destroy them and open the way to Democratic political power.
Great American patriotic conservative politicians private life is the new target of the anti-American Marxist and pro-radical islamic media led by the evil and dark reporters of The New York Times and its ACLU lawyers, MSNBC, ABC, CNN that are aiming at destroying the true character of the conservative politicians like Ted Stevens, Sarah Palin, Jindle with lies and deceit and change the outcome of the elections for the incompetent liberal Democrats.
Interesting consipracy theory except for one tiny little detail- the Justice Department was under REPUBLICAN control at the time!

Is there fairness in the courts? Do the rich and powerful have a different set of rules that the courts look at? As long as you can get the best lawyer, you will rarely get what is coming to you. Public opinion is one thing, but the scales of justice should sacred. Unfortunately, there are loop holes that can be found, when needed.

I'm sure that he has done his share. They should all be investigated and prosecuted. There wouldn't be one innocent politician on capitol hill. That is as soon as they find a qualified attorney general.

Look to the future to see what this gov is going to do. When enough people have been trampled on for long enough, the chatter on the net will tell them, just as the people will start talking about when and where to assemble for protests. When that starts, the new web Czar will shut down the net.

The prosecutors did the right thing, they messed up. But I did read some of the transcripts and Ted Stevens explanations of events. Ted, you have had your conviction overturned but you are light years from being vindicated of being a political con man.

Your explanation for the "barber chair" was priceless. My father would have smacked me silly for telling a lie like that to a US court of law. Very sad and shameful. But not guilty of a crime obviously.

The charges were dismissed but he is still guilty. Mere gesture by demos to make peace so diehards will roll over on other issues! His actions convicted him. Evidence was only used to impeach prior statements. His flimsy excuses tied the rope around his neck. He has a history of money in the pockets and blood on his hands. Open that door and I will fill the barrel to the brim with facts!
