I notice from your selection of issues that you appear to favor the republican side of things, but let's take them on anyway.
Higher taxes?? I want fair taxation, not exemptions for the wealthy. While my taxes are too high, I want the rich to have some skin in the game. I don't think they should get all the benefit without paying also.
Budgets cut? no, they have been slashed to make government incompetent. I want to go back to where bridges were inspected and fixed. I want my roads plowed after a snowstorm. I want schools where the teachers don't have 50 students per class. And on and on.
I live within my means, however, I don't like the government suppressing job growth. Let my wages rise without government interference. If they let that happen, there wouldn't be any need for personal welfare.
I also want a governor willing to speak out about the social problems that plague us and work on fixes, not just hate rhetoric, blame and attacks on the middle class.
Donna Joe...you are starting to get it!

"... Let my wages rise without government interference"...what do you call taxation? regulation? government interference in the market place (aka GM, TARP, 27 Billion to save 300,000 jobs to the tune of $90,000 per job, etc).

If a company does so poorly that it goes broke, let it go broke. I just think that (and this is the liberal in me) should be able to confiscate the last two or 3 years salaries of all the executives of failed businesses to offset the workers unemployment benefits.

Why do you suffer from class envy? The "rich" do have skin in the game. It is called an initial investment, sweat equity and good management.

The costs have gone up with new details on the plan arriving, the rationing will increase and all health premiums are set to go higher in 2011. WH concedes all of this.
But it does not even matter, lets stay you are right .....even so a trillion dollars collected in taxes would fund new bridges not a healthcare entitlement as SR's now have to wait til 70 yrs of age to retire.....
and all of this was suppose to be free, like free money on a tree.
C'mon dont be both a fool and govt dependent

Doesnt matter if you are rich, poor or middle class if you take care of yourself without govt welfare checks and their dependence which takes from someone else, you should be happy with your life.
You keep talking about getting a job. Go ahead, get one. I already have mine. While you think that if you have a job, you won't mind paying outrageous taxes so that the rich can buy a new boat to go fishing on all day while you work, I suggest that when I work, I get to keep at least some of the fruit of my labor.

Perhaps you can explain why the GOP hates working people so much, yet the answer to every problem is get a job. A person needs medical care, you tell them to get a job. A person needs an education, you tell them to get a job. A person wants to start a business, you tell them to get a job. A person can't find a job to support a family and you tell them to get a job. What's with the GOP that they keep telling their people to keep saying that?

The government interference in wages that I was referring to was the planned coordinated attack on wages. For example, Greenspan admitted that his PRIMARY focus was to slow the economy every time wages started to increase. And he did slow the economy so that there were always more employees than jobs. Then add in the millions of illegal workers who are only here because the federal government refuses to enforce laws against hiring aliens. Then add in the millions of jobs shipped to India and China because of tax policies which paid companies to move them out of the USA. Consider all that in view of the law of supply and demand. When a company needs to hire, if there are millions to chose from, they will pay less than if they have to find a way to entice someone from another company to switch.

The rich have skin in the game???? Not really. I was referring to taxation which they pay much less percentage wise than the middle class. Even with your example, they don't really. If they invest $1M in 10 companies and let's say they can only pick one good company out of 10, then they lost $9 million, but the one successful company gave them $100M so they are up,$91 million. And with that money, they invest another $1M in 10 companies and start all over again. That is not exactly having skin in the game. Note that for each f the 9 companies which were unsuccessful, the founders lost their homes, their retirement, their health care and usually their families. They had skin in the game, the investors did not. As far as sweat equity, they never have any of that invested.

As far as confiscating salaries, that sounds like the conservative. They already paid unemployment insurance, why do you want them to pay more?

You are right, Donna Joe....the citizens of the USA should be provided an education, a job, health care and even a business...

The only question left is who is paying for those?

The GOP does not hate working people. The One Party System in Washington DC passes these laws (and remember, the majority of Congress is Demoncrat).

You think taxes go toward boats? Only for the Ramsey County Sherriff's department.

Your and my taxes have paid for Obama's FIVE vacations in the last year. Not bad for a Jr. Senator that did not finish his first term in office.

Do you get 5 paid vacations a year? I know I don't.

I am already paying for all those. The problem is instead of giving me what I am paying for, they give the money out to corporate welfare. Big corporations pay for lobbyists to butter up the politicians and buy their elections so the corps can get even more corporate welfare.

I want the money going to invest in America, not just to CEO bonuses.

The GOP doesn't hate working people?? since when. Can you offer any action the GOP has taken in the last 30 years which could be considered helpful in any way to workers. Every chance they get they smear working people. Even your state governor candidate Emmer openly attacks wait staff talking about how they need wage cuts because too many of them own Cadillacs. Their open discussion of flooding the labor pool to reduce wages continues unabated, even in these times of massive unemployment. They won't even honestly report the unemployment figures.

Considering Obama has records for food stamp usage, foreclsoures, deficits and understanding that 99 weeks of unemployment benefits is not long enough to find a job in Obama's world.....you will concede Obama does not like the working class as the poor and middle class suffer never more since the great depression.

You act as if people like being on welfare and food stamps, people want jobs. Obama offers no jobs

If you indeed have a job and still need govt assistance perhaps you are living well outside your income. Try to live a life according to your income.

Come on, you have to tell big lies to be believed. Reagan created 100 billion jobs. Every man woman and child had 5 jobs in Reagan's America. Not only that, each job paid $3M per year. The only reason for not being wealthy was being lazy.

Obama's record for ending the bush depression is poor indeed. There are many things to be done to restore the jobs bush eliminated. Obama has yet to act. The continuation of bush policies will continue the bush depression.

We call it illiteracy, little adolescent haranguer. You're just too embarrassed to admit you didn't know the difference between "swilling" and "swelling," "towing" and "toeing." That's OK. Liberals usually parade their ignorance incessantly and take self-righteous umbrage when they're called on their junior-high mistakes.

Glad you took the time to look up the remedies to your latest illiterate bloviations.

Petulant, puerile defensiveness is another invariable response of thin-skinned liberals who hate to see their shortcomings exposed.

You might want to haunt Democrat Underground until you're intellectually ready for an adult discussion forum, little man. Nah, forget that advice. Hanging out on a liberals-only forum will only further stultify your embarrassingly limited skills.

Good God, look at the picture in this story (pinning on the Dayton crap). Look at these people....can you picture ANY of them in any capacity in the private sector where their talents earn them more than a buck fifty and hour?

Mark Dayton....candidate for everything from snow cone maker to official state mime...actually seeking the office of governor? Yvonne Prettner Solon, a psychologist who as far as I can tell never held a job outside of government and Kelliher, who's work experience consists of being a legislator?

There isn't one person in that photo who I would look toward for any insight as to how the real world functions and yet here they are, Solon/Kelliher/Klobuchar/Dayto n, surrounded by leftists activists.

A picture is worth 1,000 words.

10%, no, not even close. Close would be 23%. The 800 billion was a continuation of the bush policy to give money to large corporations. I am waiting for the 800 billion to the middle class.
