Donna Joe...you are starting to get it!<quoted text>
I notice from your selection of issues that you appear to favor the republican side of things, but let's take them on anyway.
Higher taxes?? I want fair taxation, not exemptions for the wealthy. While my taxes are too high, I want the rich to have some skin in the game. I don't think they should get all the benefit without paying also.
Budgets cut? no, they have been slashed to make government incompetent. I want to go back to where bridges were inspected and fixed. I want my roads plowed after a snowstorm. I want schools where the teachers don't have 50 students per class. And on and on.
I live within my means, however, I don't like the government suppressing job growth. Let my wages rise without government interference. If they let that happen, there wouldn't be any need for personal welfare.
I also want a governor willing to speak out about the social problems that plague us and work on fixes, not just hate rhetoric, blame and attacks on the middle class.
"... Let my wages rise without government interference"...what do you call taxation? regulation? government interference in the market place (aka GM, TARP, 27 Billion to save 300,000 jobs to the tune of $90,000 per job, etc).
If a company does so poorly that it goes broke, let it go broke. I just think that (and this is the liberal in me) should be able to confiscate the last two or 3 years salaries of all the executives of failed businesses to offset the workers unemployment benefits.
Why do you suffer from class envy? The "rich" do have skin in the game. It is called an initial investment, sweat equity and good management.
