LGR got one of these too. Apparently JMG is not the only one, but a lot of filters caught it so it never ran. I'm actually glad Joe caught it. We trashed ours before we realized what it was.

I'm shocked I tell you, just shocked!

Like we expect anything less from someone who slandered a triple amputee war hero for political gain.

I expect even less to come on this one, I expect "Jimmy" to remain publicly unidentified and let off with the statement that he was supposedly given an admonition not to use the boss's computers for this kind of unacceptable "joke" ever again...

I may be proved wrong on the above comment, I just read a report where the Sergeant at Arms of the Senate has been brought into the investigation, but the perpetrator still remains as yet unidentified...

From the article:

"The comment was posted on Joe.My.God., a blog by Joseph Jervis dedicated to gay and lesbian issues....

Jervis told the newspaper it didn't take long for his readers to determine the origin of the comment.'Among the fields in which gay people are over-represented is the IT field,' he said."

Classic.

I assume you are referring to former Senator Max Cleland. He is not a "hero". Are you aware that he did not recieve, because he was not eligible for, a Purple Heart for his war wounds ?

Do you know why ?

if you are referring to max cleland you need to set the record straight!! cleland was sitting in his swift boat at the dock straightening out his ordnance!! he mishandled a grenade and the pin flew out!! he reached down to get the grenade and throw it befor detonation but it was too late!! grenade exploded - rest is history!! a sorrowful event to be sure but this just does not rise to the level of coronation in my view!!

Either you are a liar or simply don't know better.
The truth:
Then Captain Cleland was the communications officer with the 2nd Battalion 12th Cav. taking part in Operation Pegasus (the relief of Khe Sanh). He and his signals team were ordered to a mountain top to set up a radio relay, as the helicopter that they had disembarked from lifted off, Cleland spotted a grenade and as he reached for it, it exploded. The grenade had been dropped by another member of his team. Since Cleland's injuries were the result of friendly fire not directed at the enemy, he was ineligible for the Purple Heart.

By the way, for his actions four days earlier, Cleland was awarded the Silver Star. From the order awarding it:

"Capt. Cleland, disregarding his own safety, exposed himself to the rocket barrage as he left his covered position to administer first aid to his wounded comrades. He then assisted in moving the injured personnel to covered positions. Continuing to expose himself, Capt. Cleland organized his men into a work party to repair the battalion communications equipment which had been damaged by enemy fire. His gallant action is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service, and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army."
