All sounds great...so tell me again why you vote for bills without reading them that are going to cost us our future for generations. As someone who voted for Warner, I won't ever again. It'll be a cold day...that YOUR friend Obama will cut entitlements...it would be too detrimental to his re-election.

What a joke, scarface! Warner needs to be up in Washington D.C. to convince his Democrat party colleagues that they are in denial concerning spending cuts. There is no such thing as "investments" if it drives us further into debt. Virginians already know this. Even the Republicans proposal of $60 Billion in cuts isn't enough--according to Co-Chair Democrat Erskine Bowles of the Federal Deficit Reduction Committee. We are in SERIOUS trouble. It's probably already too late--as these clrcus clowns continue to act as if they are doing something to prevent this impending disaster.

Well, the Obama haters have already checked in. Now, for the rational rest of us, let's hope that Senator Warner, a man who actually has a background in business, can put forward a sensible deficit reduction plan. Try to think of the economy as a living thing like a tree. You want to do some extensive pruning that will encourage new growth, not hack away blindly and risk killing it or stunting growth for years. It's certainly going to take some political courage (if any still exists in Washington) as polls indicate Americans are all for drastic budget cuts that impact anybody but themselves.

What about all the Pay Pal, Money Gram and money order transactions I see going to countries south of the border every day?

We have millions of people who shouldn't even be here and they send their TAX FREE earnings back to the village countless times every day right here in Charlottesville.

Instead of taxing legal citizens one or two EXTRA times why not try to tax illegals ONCE for a change??

"entitlement programs, defense and reforming the tax code" Even I can read into this...our taxes are going up, defense spending will go down (check out the thread on the Sperry jobs being cut), and we're going to have to wait longer to retire! What bullscud! Congress, the Senate and MR. Warner got theirs, and the rest of us can just "suck it up"! YOU'VE been in Washington for HOW LONG? and now you "Suddenly" become fiscally responsible? You were a successful businessman beofre you went stupid as governor and now senator... Your time is over, pal!

Bill, He WAS a businessman, but he has NEVER acted as a good businessman while governor and senator. Why do you think he will change now? Your tree analogy is good, but the tree is too diseased to make pruning much help. Mr Warner has been "helping" the rot to spread, regardless of his "business" acumen.

Barrak Warner was not a successful businessman, he was a underhanded partner racketeering firm (which practices are now illegal, warner voted with obama 100% of the time just as web did. Time to cleans the house, white house and senate of these crooks.

I see an easy $100 Billion dollars saved, Senator. How about cutting off all benefits to illegal aliens? They are NOT suppose to be here, so cut them off.

I will keep it simple for you Senator: Remove illegal aliens + unemployed get their jobs back = economy improves

So simple that maybe Obama could understand it.

A nation is NOT a business, or a family, or any of the other analogies the deficit-hawks like to use to justify the economy-stifling cuts they like to propose. A recession is the worst time for government to stop domestic spending. If anything, we should be increasing government spending now.

At least Mr. Warner seems to recognize that such draconian cuts should wait until after the economy improves. But he still needs to answer the question Harry Truman might ask: Why would people go out to vote for a Democrat in Republican clothing, when by staying home they can have have a genuine Republican?
