Not where and When I grew up. America is a melting pot. Now diversity is taught so as to create division.

" America is a melting pot."
==========
That is what is taught in schools. America is many cultures that do not melt together because of different goals and lifestyles. Those styles conflict when the government makes laws for one size fits all. Nothing is standard in America.

You cannot force children to go to the same school on buses and expect a better education. Each culture needs a special perspective of their history.

Things taught like Thanksgiving are out right lies to deceive people and force common culture.

One size does not fit all each community should decide the main things they celebrate it is not a state or national issue.

Race has very little to do with community. It is the individual goals and how you achieve them that puts people in teams. Many football teams have no issues with race they just want to win. They do not keep a slacker. Communities are the same way either you are on the team or rejected. Those that have common interests such as the Gay community in Castro section of SF do not care about race. The silicon valley does not care about race you have to fit into the culture if you want community.

So yes division is a good thing that give strength to community.

People self segregate, and they start at a young age.
I live near a middle and high school and as soon as the closing bell sounds the kids split off into ethnic groups.
Same with work enviroments,at lunch, breaks and quitting time blacks congregate with blacks and so on.
Cities have a china town or Italian section,Latino district etc.
People instinctively gravitate to their own kind weather its because they share a language, history or cultural habits.

Yes, but the dividing line does not always have to be race. I worked with professional people and they separated from the less knowledgeable workers and race was not an issue . We had Black, Indian, Chinese and Hispanic people all with the same working management culture. The same with the neighborhood the neighbors get along because they have common educational and community goals. They also are of different races.

You can not force people to be friends that have nothing in common.

Of course in the work place people have a common goal,so to have any success everyone has to contribute in the same way and work in tandem.
Thats where it ends though.
A diverse neighborhood where everyone treats each other the same is a nice thought, but, sadly not the reality.
Or the exception to the rule.

Not diverse, that creates disagreements. The common factor has to be why people live together if there is major diversity it will not work. Skin color does not have to be the major factor but difference in dress can divide culture. Education is a major factor. If you do not have the vocabulary to communicate there is not a community.

Even in the Gay community when a few passed the line and went around naked he community objected.

Right. Because if you're from Mississippi you simply must be as dumb as a rock.

more about odds, not 'simply must.' Everybody knows about Mississippi goddam.

LOL it's true. Even us Texans look at Mississsippi and go "woooo, them boys are a few bricks shy of a full load"
Stanton Martin Phil•4 hours ago
Not sure why we have to be so divisive, we're all Americans. The education system as a whole a is failing. You can thank Bush, in part, for that, a proud product of Texas.
ArchonTears Stanton Martin•3 hours ago
I don't think it's divisive to recognize that old Miss isn't the proudest element of American life. You guys JUST ratified the 13th amendment... you literally live the stereotype.
