Why does this not suprise me. Our own government could care less about us anymore. Sounds to me like some underhanded dealings have taken place. I wonder who's pockets are getting lined with a little extra cash now?

What IDIOT came up with this bright idea?? How can anyone justify using ANYTHING other than AMERICAN material and AMERICAN craftsmen on the 9-11 Memorial??? Do WE not have granite??? Do WE not have craftsmen???

How do WE honor OUR MARTYRS??? With African granite and Italian craftsmen????

When The People lead, the Leaders WILL follow!!!

This is a sad day. This is the greatest country on the face of the earth. Where is the American pride? The 9-11 memorial is being built to honor people who died here on American soil. The materials to build it should be made here in the United States with American know how, craftsmanship, and pride. George Washington must be rolling over in his grave.

".......Port Morris, the stone setter, that they had been instructed to purchase the granite from the African company and have it fabricated in Italy."

So who instructed them to get the granite from Africa and have it fabricated in Italy? Send them to live in either of those countries if they like it so much.

If it is a low bid thing, then send them to those countries without any money.

And never vote for an incumbent.

Oh, for Pete's sake! Of all the things we ship in from other countries or have made in other countries instead of KEEPING JOBS HERE IN AMERICA this is absolutely one thing that needs to be made in the USA!

For heaven's sake...this is the Memorial for that awful time for America and to not use materials from the USA and have it not even made in the USA is absolutely outrageous, totally outrageous!!!

Them sorry sob's.

To hear that, and to hear this type of stuff just ticks me off.

Help me to spread the word because we're going to bring jobs home to America because Americans and our children are depending on us even if they don't know it yet.

Obama says he creating jobs next year... I guess he meant He's creating jobs for the other countries. Whatever happened to taking care of our own? The only thing that still made in USA but I am sure that wont last long.... Making our soldiers clothes. Before you know it that will be up for bids and made in China......

I am one of the millions of people in America out of work. Due to the world trade program. If we as Americans would keep work much like this.Home in America there wouldn't be so many of us out of work,Aspeicaly with what this memorial stands for.As I am a vol.Fire Fighter here in NC.This realy pisses me off that they would even think about sending this job to a forighn land to be made.

What is wrong with the decision making people of this country. Create jobs over here, what a joke. Let's just send some more work overseas. This is for the 9-11 memorial. It should consist of American Granite and American workers doing the job. Those poor people in the towers gave their lives, so to speak, for this country. We needed to honor them by keeping this project truly

I am truly outraged about this story and I'm not even one of the unfortunate people out of a job, yet!!!! This is an American memorial and our government is allowing the Italians to benefit from it. They should have never been allowed to even bid for the job!! Please everyone join me in flooding the national media with this story and don't forget to include the White House.

It is absolutely absurd that any job in this economic climate should be awarded to a foreign country. That this job in particular is of such monumental circumstance makes this an outrage.

Typical, Typical, Typical. I guess that once the United States becomes a Third World Country, we will be able to get jobs and aid from the countries that we have been supporting with our tax money all these years.

It's simple, give them a reason to erect a more important memorial in their own country, keep them busy until they can't meet the deadline in NY, Bingo..NY will NC. Case closed

Little boy Obama and the rest of the pricks in Washington have been selling us out since some ignorant Americans & illegals voted him in. I hope Bill Clinton is proud that they are finishing what he started. Remember these people at election time!

The bid went to the lowest price available to complete this project, so once again, over-payed union workers forced outsourcing to get similar goods and services for a cheaper rate. As union workers/thugs have a history of assaulting and intimidating those who disagree with them, work in their place when they strike, and those who protest against the policies of their Democratic leaders (SEIU at St. Louis town hall event), I have no sympathy for this job order going overseas.
