Of course one must be gay to defend ssm.....Talk about lack of logic....

One doesn’t need to be gay to defend ssm…… but it helps.

I am addressing the issue. The thread is about DOMA
Defence Of Marriage Act... A federal law....
Therefore all your "states rights" issues is the strawman here.
DOMA permits states to define the terms of their marriage laws without being forced to recognize the terms of other states’ marriage laws, as the Full Faith and Credit clause of the Constitution would require.

Then explain why the federal law is correct IF this is a states issue.
If this is not a federal issue then why does DOMA exist?....
DOMA permits the federal government to refuse to recognize the marriages of same-sex couples in states where this is permitted.

Which is the rub... give us a valid reason why two federal workers one in a ssm sanctioned by their state, and one hetero should not get the same benifits.... Tell us why doma is a good and just law....

But civil marriage is not a private contract since the state is one of the parties to the contract. Thus, the people have a say.
Should it be a three-party contract?
