In a lame-duck congress, the ousted congressmen are free to take bribes since they no longer have to worry about pleasing the voters.

We need to start the phone calls and e mails and let them know this is no longer acceptable. We still have the power to vote and will use it to ensure this NEVER Happens again. We can hold them accountable and limit the scope of the Lame Duck Session to immediate needs and will no longer accept " business as usual"

No action is better than the Nightmare Act passing.

But U.S. Rep. Tom Price (R-Roswell), who voted against the bill, said it is inaccurate and misleading to say the bill is only for children and only for those who graduate from college or complete a term of military service.

"In reality, an illegal immigrant who is 29 years old could wind up on a fast-track to citizenship," Price said. "And the DREAM Act actually permits amnesty for people who never serve in the military or obtain a college degree. Furthermore, federal law already provides a path to citizenship through military service."

Gingrey(U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey R-Marietta) estimated the bill would provide amnesty for 2 million illegal immigrants, a number he said is not difficult to imagine given that H.R. 5281 would allow such individuals, once naturalized and 21 years of age, "to exploit the nation's broken system by sponsoring their immediate relatives with-out a numerical cap."

Gingrey, who was marked not voting on the bill because he was "unavoidably detained," according to his office, said the potential for fraud was great due to a provision mandating that the immigrant has resided in the U.S. since they turned 16.

"My question is simple,'how can we verify how long an illegal immigrant has been in the United States?'" Gingrey asked. "We cannot and should not require ourselves to rely on the word of individuals whose very presence in the U.S. is illegal."

The bill, Gingrey said, "will open the doors to criminal aliens attaining permanent status to the detriment of legal immigrants. This legislation allows an illegal alien to submit an application for legalized permanent resident status, and in doing so, the Department of Homeland Security will no longer be allowed to deport them-criminal or not."
