Obama's policies are working. Although Republican politicians say otherwise, the stimulus worked and has saved millions of jobs, possibly preventing another great depression.

When Obama signed the law approving the stimulus in February 2009, the Washinton Post says,“private-sector activity had virtually collapsed and employers were shedding an average of 750,000 jobs a month.:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/...

The Congressional Budget Office (a non-partisan program) released a report in August estimating that the stimulus, by lowering the jobless rate, increased the number of people employed by between 1.4 million and 3.3 million.

Under Bush the country had 4.5% unemployment, the highest stock market in history, record high home ownership, and development of new technology and educational advancements. That all changed when the Democrats gained control of Cs and sent the economy into a tailspin with much assistance from the liberal news media who wrecked consumer confidence while the Congress deliberately failed to head off a recession with delays and inaction to deny Bush the money to save the economy.
The obama economy has record high unemployment, record high poverty rates, massive national debt, and corruption in government.

The articles below about the housing crash were written in February 2007. The Democrats are only slightly more competent than the Republicans, but even they couldn’t wreck the entire economy in one month.

“US Housing Market Crash to result in the Second Great Depression”
http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article383.html
“The slump in home prices from the end of 2005 to the end of 2006 was the biggest year over year drop since the National Association of Realtors started keeping track in 1982…”
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/17/opinion/17s...

On the other hand, Obama’s policies really did help stop the recession (see the 2009 article below):
The economy in the U.S. probably grew in the third quarter at the fastest pace in two years as government stimulus helped bring an end to the worst recession since the 1930s, economists said. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news...

As I’ve said, the recovery is slow, but it’s happening. Neither party directly caused the recession, but Obama's policies kept it from becoming catastrophic. We would be fools to vote the Republicans back to power.

Have you ever heard of the recession of 1920? If not why not?
I bet you have heard of the recession that got turned into the Great Depression, by another progressive Democrat, FDR. The government usually only makes things worse not better, so why would having them control greater portions of the economy be a good idea? It is amazing how little most people understand about history or economics. Why does public school not educate people anymore?

Gotta point out that that was all temporary census workers, hired, fired, and hired again to raise the numbers. Not sure why you're from Texas and on this forum, but I give you credit for at least posting references. However, I disagree with the assement. He should have lowered taxes and stopped scaring the heck out of everyone with statist statements.

My friend, the great depression was in full swing before FDR took office, and the New Deal put millions of people, including my grandfather, back to work.

If Obama accomplishes nothing else, he will be remembered in history books for stopping another depression, for reforming health care, and for ending two wars (except for the history books here in Texas, where he will be a footnote in the chapter on Rick Perry).

Thanks for the kind words. By the way, Obama DID cut taxes:

Witholding tax cut in stimulus package:
"Faced with evidence that people were more likely to save than spend the tax rebate checks they received during the Bush administration, the Obama administration decided to take a different tack: it arranged for less tax money to be withheld from people’s paychecks...giving typical families an extra $65 a month."
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/19/us/politics...

Small business tax credits in health care reform:
"NEW YORK ( CNNMoney.com )-- Most of the health care reforms President Obama signed into law last month won't kick in for another four years. But small businesses can look forward to some quick relief: a tax credit to offset insurance premiums took effect immediately.
...
For 2010 through 2013, the tax credit covers up to 35% of the money a qualifying business spends on its health insurance premiums."
