Interesting about this fanfare! He shouldn't have imposed it in the first place!

Imagine... him temporarily halting deep water expolration until the cause of this explosion was better understood and additional safeguards were put in place to try minimize any future catastrophes like this one. He's got some nerve.

It's a good thing we don't have this occurrence what, every 6 months. Thank god for OSHA!

The environment is just as important as big oil, if not more important. We need to heavily regulate that industry but all these politicians once worked for these big corporations so it makes you wonder where their interests are. The people of the USA or their 100 million dollars investments in the companies they should be regulating?

Do you truly believe that anything was done in the past couple of months to safeguard against this happening again?

At the pace government moves, they probably don't even have the ban in place that they are now lifting.

They will do nothing but cripple the American oil industry and put it at disadvantage to the rest of the nations drilling off our coast. The Chinese are going to be drilling for the Cuban government, for instance, and won't have to follow any of the procedures put in place to hamper our own people. These safety regs usually just make things more cumbersome and seemingly impossible for the crews to get around in their attempts to get the job done. In the end we'll kill another industry with constant government meddling and interference.

We already had regulations in place and they weren't followed. What's new??? This is a bad move for our environment!

Obama flip-flopped :)

Wants to be re-elected. With a republican congress and grid-lock soon, he's done. All lhe did was scare big business with his healthcare fiasco and ruin his chance on a 2nd term. He sure is a dope.

No big fanfare to announce the return of drilling to the Gulf Coast, and no big findings or report? Just in time for the election! Obama is working both sides to garner votes, but it won't work. People are starting to see right through our President.

This is for the election. He knows most Americans want us to drill for oil and this might help his side get votes.

He's also coming out against gay marriage by fighting the Mass judge who ruled against DOMA. Again, Obama knows he needs votes so he's willing to do what it takes.

You can't over-cynical this guy. Last week he granted 30 exemptions from Obamacare -- from McDonalds to some Teacher union. He knows his plan hurts, but doesn't want to lose votes.

He's transparent as Kathy says. Just one more phony.

Mr. Tom from P.V. - Again you are saying the truth and explaining clearly. Yes, Obama is a phony -- but a dangerous one. Yet I pray for his health and his family's well being because Mr. Biden is the worst of the two.

That old thinking was always applied to Cheney by the Dems when GWB was prez. They would say Cheney was Bush's insurance against anybody trying to kill him because the VP was the worst of the two. Phony.

Whitman is pro-drill here and Brown against it. Whitman should make a bigger point of her view, except that I think she may fear alienating some on-the-fence voters. Too bad. The issue is an important one.

The unnecessary, anti-industry moratorium cost 12,000 jobs and Obama's current lack of clarity has tens of thousands more in the balance.

What in the heck did this gain for the US? Was there a moratorium on oil drilling for China, Japan, or any of the rest of those countries in the Gulf Of Mexico? Of course not! They just kept on drilling! To this we can thank the legend in his own mind, our George Soros sock puppet, Barry Imam Obumbler!
He will be judged by history and most feel it will not be kind! Once congress is changed you can BET the investigations will start in EARNEST! From what most of us have seen over the last two years the constitution and rule of law have been shredded and thwarted! The truth about the messiah will NOT be pretty! And all will find out EXACTLY what a Chicago thug politician looks like OFF CAMERA and OFF teleprompter!

Politics is the organization of hatreds.

Most in California hate "big oil". Oh sure they are drive and expect to have it -- but they still hate it.

So Whitman has to let the issue lie low and let informed voters find it out for themselves.

thank you Contessa! I'm starting to fear this guy too. At first, I just thought he was sending us down the economic tubes with stupid policies and when they backfire, he will change.

It dawns on me Obama and other progressives don't care if our economy plummets -- they're after turning us into a France or UK.
