That is was Katrina, and not the subsequent canal levy failure, that caused the widespread death and destruction in NOLA.

Is that not your assertion?

No. The section of canal levy that failed was one of the newest sections, contrary to your assertion. Although the failure of the state and city governments to follow their disaster plan was the actual cause. They should have enforced the mandatory evacuation order that they issued late and also used the scores of buses that they had and knew would be needed for the evacuation.

Bush was a Moron...were was you during Katrina? Let's not forget what his mother said about the peoople staying at the Superdome, "These people have it made, most have not stayed in a nicer place or something to that effect" WOW! I grew up very very poor I was lucky to find and have a great job. But the Gov. let these people down! I can't believe the old people left to fin for there self and some in wheelchairs, most could not swim! Some had no power and had no clue to what was going on!!!! One woman was doing a show for NetGo...she didn't have a car nor money!

This country owes them, I'm sorry we could and should have sent the navy in before the storm hit!

Not days later...them some of the people wanted to stay at a Navy Base and was told no! Really but we will go to another country and spend billions of dollars to build them up, sad very very sad! We should not forget this was about being POOR! Heck the rich had food flown in to there homes! I fear GOD! We can't treat people this way! I would rather live by the poor than the stuck up rich any day!!! Funny if the rich nabor-hoods was flooded like that do you think they would have a clue how to make it with out food, power, water, NO Way!
I want to say sorry and yes this country should have done something sooner!

Yes, the state and city governments that had the evacuation buses and knew ahead of time from their evacuation plan that the buses were essential for the evacuation of the POOR people. It was the US Navy and Coast Guard that immediately responded to save the people that the state and city governments had abandoneed!
