Congress puts pork in bills AND also throws UNRELATED issues into the same bill.

In some cases Congress will put war funding along with some pet projects in the same bill. When the country NEEDS more funding for war, the President is forced to sign a bill EVEN if it has other garbage in it.

The President should be able to use a LINE ITEM VETO, to eliminate some of the items he does not support. Congress then would have an opportunity to OVER-RIDE his veto (which they have the right to do for any other Presidential veto).

Don't get excited. The headline is intended to mislead AGAIN. If any headline sounds biased, read the full article. President only gets line veto authority to ELIMINATE spending bills.

"The legislation, expected to pass, allows the president to pick out specific items in spending bills for elimination. Currently, the president must sign or veto spending bills in their entirety.

The president's choices for removal would then have to be approved by Congress.

The GOP house is doing what it was supposed to for voters when voted in 2010. Blocking Obama's ludicrous spending, debt ceiling increase, tax increases, to destroy America, is GIVING CONFIDENCE TO BUSINESSES. The idea that Obama will be voted out in 2012 as we near November is boosting businesses to begin hiring. In 2008, as businesses faced the threat of a progressive left Democrat president, businesses shut down well in advance of the actual election to avoid Obama's legislation policies against businesses. The reverse is happening now. The increase in payroll has NOTHING to do with OBAMA's efforts. It has everything to do with GOP blocking his anti-business policies. Obama complains that GOP is blocking his leftist efforts. YES AND THIS IS GOOD. THIS IS WHAT WE WANT. THIS IS WHAT THE BUSINESSES AND PEOPLE LOOKING FOR JOBS WANT.

Interestingly, it is the Democrat SENATE who are blocking this spending bill veto by President. The plan is so the new president in 2012 can eliminate spending bills.

In 2012, continue to vote GOP. This time we must put GOPs in Senate too, to offset the new president whoever it will be. Anybody But Obama with GOP IN HOUSE AND SENATE.

@Eleanor, scout, "The President should be able to use a LINE ITEM VETO, to eliminate some of the items he does not support." "translation: Our neo-Marxist Rulers in congress want to relinquish their power and authority by increasing the juggernaut power and authority of the Presidency." It could also mean that a line-item veto for President Obama would allow him to veto the offensive indefinite detention measures that neoconservative Congressmen inappropriately placed in a US veterans services routine spending bill. US veterans services ,especially for their healthcare funding could not be held hostage to neoconservative hawks wishes for greater suppression of ordinary Americans rights.

Media is to blame, "In 2008, as businesses faced the threat of a progressive left Democrat president, businesses shut down well in advance of the actual election to avoid Obama's legislation policies against businesses." Yeah, right , American businesses are now telling better fortunes than Bruce Springsteen's Asbury Park, N. J. Madame Marie? lol If US businessmen were such good fortune-tellers than why didn't they foresee the G W Bush 2007-2008 Great Recession coming on , bank failures, mass mortgage foreclosures, and the US auto industry collapse?

I agree that the LINE ITEM VETO would be helpful.

I disagree that having the line item veto translates into: "Our neo-Marxist Rulers in congress want to relinquish their power and authority by increasing the juggernaut power and authority of the Presidency." That is a bunch of NONSENSE!!

all savings from eliminated programs would go to deficit reduction.
Under the proposal, the president has 45 days within the enactment of a spending bill to send a special message to Congress proposing cuts to any amount of discretionary, or non-entitlement, spending.

They actually think that one of their damaged, demented, extremist candidates will win in November. Mass delusion.

No. There is ZERO difference between the two parties. Both are neo-marxist and anti-American, BUT we have ONE politico American, and that's

Ron Paul. Once he's in the WH, we can finally see what a real American leader can do for the country.

When Mr_Bill is President of the USA; he will invite Dr. Ron Paul and Jim Perdew (Perdew Chicken) to wrestle for their dinner.

Mr_Bill will bet on Jim Perdew, and offer odds of 5:3.

It will be a PERDEW CHICKEN Dinner, including chicken soup, fried chicken, baked chicken, and chicken pot pie.

Desert will be Perry's Ice Cream, carved in the shape of a chicken.

Fun will be had by all.
