Opinionator: Guns and Political Suicide

May 2, 2013 Full story: FiveThirtyEight 22

Does Bill Daley , a former White House chief of staff, have the right to complain that Heidi Heitkamp, the first-year Democratic Senator from North Dakota, refused to commit political suicide after taking his $2,500 contribution? Heitkamp was one of four Senate Democrats who voted against a proposal to require gun buyers to pass a background check ... (more)

Attention wall street communist!!! Shut your libelous piehole you pathetic jackazz. It was President G. W. Bush who let the stinking clintoon assault weapons garbage expire so take your despicable sick mealy mouth marxist concern for the United States Constitution and shove it up your worthless punkazz.
America remains at war with terrorists and the American Citizen Militia need weaponry to deal with terrorists and the criminally insane. If you think Americans should have to wait on a SWAT team to show after the fact then you are nuts. It is the American Citizen terrorists are gunning for and it's the American Citizen who is dead or maimed in the wake of 90% of the attacks. And to add insult to injury the American Citizen has a worthless government who called a terrorist attack on a US Military Base "workplace violence?" These are the Rats running the show? I think not.
Unless these government bassturds want to provide every American Household 24/7 security armed with full auto weaponry just like b. h. obama and the rest of the gun hating scum enjoy then it's The American Citizen who calls the shots...Capice?

Everyone has a right to complain.

It's called the freedom of speech.

Heitkamp made her choice and now she has to live with it.

Over 90% of Americans want gun buyers to undergo
extensive background checks. She threw in with
the gun runners and sellers who want the right to
to sell guns to the insane, to criminals and terrorists. She went against 90% of the American people.

She's in the wrong party.

Attention: Teabagger in LaLa land:

The republicans created the "Patriot" Act.

Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.

I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

Now teabaggers whine about the constitution.

You're living proof the mentally challenged shouldn't be allowed near any weapon.

As are most teabaggers.

It's funny. That's pretty much how it went with Obama and Obamacare, too. What an amazing coincidence!

the United States of America is a constitutional republic. This is similar to a democracy because our representatives are selected by democratic elections, but ultimately our representatives are required to work within the framework of our constitution. In other words, even if 90% of Americans want something that goes against our founding principles, they have no right to call for a violation of constitutional rights.

In 2001 the bill passed the senate 98-1. It passed the house...357 for and 66 against. Your claim to the republicans "passed" it is a pile of dung, as is most of your claims.

The House voted 250-153 to renew three parts of the counter-terrorism surveillance law in 2011, the senate for for it 72-23.

A full dem congress and executive branch from 2008-2010 had the opportunity to repeal it....didn't!

The Obama administration has defended the law in court despite its paternity during the Bush years, a sign that the stakes for national security are too high to ignore it, as it has with the Defense of Marriage Act.

The Patriot Act only permits law enforcement agencies to share information, however, it doesn’t require them to. That represents a change from the “wall of separation” imposed during the Clinton presidency by Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick that prevented open communications on terrorism within the FBI and made the 9/11 attacks possible.

42 major attacks prevented due to patriot act, bozo.

So why did you re-elect the demorat dumbasses that passed it, genius????????? LMAO

"Uh, Bush forced them!" What a loon!

Words from Toomey who - yes - is a republicant and illustrates why the Party of No continues to go against the public and say no, hell no and damn hell no because of their petty partisanship:

"In the end it didn’t pass because we're so politicized. There were some on my side who did not want to be seen helping the president do something he wanted to get done, just because the president wanted to do it,” Toomey admitted on Tuesday in an interview with Digital First Media editors.

Those words say it all .....

I heard that a 5 year old just killed his two year old sister with a gun, that was given to him as a gift. I suppose now the NRA will tell us the only way to stop an older brother with a gun, is a little sister with a gun. Will all toddlers now be required to carry guns at all times? What if the toddler can't lift an AK-47?

Where did you hear a 5 year old killed his 2 year old sister? I think you made that up. If it did happen it was the irresponsible parent that is at fault, not the 5 year old. Tuesday in Chicago there was 23 shootings. 3 people are dead, and 20 are wounded. Chicago has become a killing field, because of booze, and drugs. Society needs to look at thoes shootings, then get back to me. None of those guns are registered. None of those shooters have had a background check, and they never will. So when you clean up Obama's ghetto gunners, then we can talk about registering the law abiding. I bet every one of those chicago people, shooters, and victims voted Democrat in the last election.

The liberal sissies will call in a false anonymous tip to the authorities to have your butt raided by a goon squad who will kill your dog in front of your children with their automatic weapons.

They will shoot first and ask questions later.
