Rural air subsidies test resolve to cut spending

Feb 3, 2011 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: KansasCity.com

A program that subsidizes air service to small airports, often in remote communities, is shaping up as an early test in the new Congress of conservatives' zeal for shrinking the federal government.Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has proposed an amendment to an aviation bill pending before the Senate in order to eliminate the $200 million annual ...

Wow, take away a corporate welfare subsidy like this and the Fascist Reich starts stamping their little Nazi feet!

Why, what about "shared sacrifice?" LOL!!!!

I guess when they got their Tush Tax Cuts for the Rich and Famous extended two years, they thought they were on a roll!

Hypocritical lying fascist punks populate the Reich, and that will never change.

Exactly who do you think is the "Fascist Reich", the Democrats? A Republican (Sen. McCain) proposed killing the subsidies and it looks like it is mostly Democrats that oppose it.

From the article: "In the House, the Republican Study Committee - a group of conservative lawmakers - has also proposed killing the program."

Also from the article: "Four Democratic senators - Mark Begich of Alaska, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Robert Casey of Pennsylvania and Joe Manchin of West Virginia - sent a letter to McCain Thursday urging him to give up his attempt to kill the program."

You confusion is only outdone by your partisan hypocracy.

Obama has already spent more in 2 years than Bush did in 8. At least with Bush's spending we got something for our money, unlike Obama with his totally wasted trillions. And Bush's big spending really started after democrats took over congress. But I know you know this, you just choose to conveniently forget.

Republicans are trying to get rid of the subsidies. Democrats want to keep them.

Looks like your party is one with the "I love big government" T-shirt and holding the "I want more free stuff" protest sign.

I don't recall Clinton, Kerry or Schumer invading Iraq - do you? Or, by your logic, it's reasonable to invade a country because "everyone is talking about it"? North Korea is/was more of a menace than Iraq - or didn't Shrub know where N. Korea was?

OOpppssss..... forgot - the Rethugs. think North Korea is one of our allies.

When The Wasilla Quitta becomes POTUS, either you or Trig are candidates to be Secretary of State. Such deep analysis you provide in foreign affairs.

BS. JUST McCAIN who's wife has private jets.

"... several conservative senators from rural states declined to discuss McCain's amendment when approached by The Associated Press.

"I'll have to see it first. I haven't seen the amendment," said Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo. Two communities in Wyoming - Laramie and Worland - receive subsidized service, according to the Transportation Department.

"I just don't know about that," echoed Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah. Three communities in Utah - Moab, Vernal and Cedar City - receive subsidized service"

So you think still think Repubulicans don't support the amendment a Republican Senator introduced simply because some of them won't comment on it without seeing the details, but fail to recognize that Democrats are the ones openly supporting keeping the subsidiy as demostrated with direct quotes?

You ignored the following parts from the article "In the House, the Republican Study Committee - a group of conservative lawmakers - has also proposed killing the program"

Take off your partisan blinders and see what is right in front of you. Big government Democrats want to keep this subsidy starting with Senator Rockefeller, who chairs the committee this need to get out of!

McShame married an ATM machine complete with private aircraft attached.

Of course he's oppose it- he's not running again anyway, so the old "maverick" will no doubt resurface.

He still hates the Reich for choosing Palin as his running mate, never having met her ONCE before the corrupt corporate powers chose her for him.

So you ignore what the Republicans say and dismiss thier actions because you think you know what thier intensions.

It appears you have built your own little alternate reality that cannot be disrupted by actual facts.

Yeah, actually I do know their intentions, since they have made it quite loud and clear.

They tanked the economy while gambling with our collective assets in 2008. I don't need any more evidence than that. Guess you were sleeping through it all.

Geez.
In from January 3, 2007 to January 3, 2011 the Democrats were in charge of both houses of Congress. Looks like someone was asleep, but it was not me! How do you feel Mr. Van Winkle?

You base you opinions on what you imagine someones intentions are and manage to ignore reality at every turn. Face it the Democrats in charge of the Senate (and this committee) want to keep the subsidies and some Republicans want to get rid of them. To that effect Sen. McCain introduced a bill to do just that and House Republicans have done it also. The Democrat Senator who chairs the Comittee has spoken against killing the subsidies and 4 Democrats have writen an open letter doing the same.

Somehow you twist it up in your little pointy head and dispite all of the facts you still manage to misconstrue it to mean that Republicans are supporting the subsdies, and now you even try to blame the party who was not able to push any legislation forward anyway.

You are truely a deluded partisan hypocrite.

From 2006-2008 Democrats had a BARE majority, and still had to collect a 60 vote majority in the senate to affect any spending measures, as is the rule, which they could not do without bipartisan support which they never got, since the Thugs love using the filibuster like cranky children who stamp their feet when they cannot get their way.

Rethuglicans controlled congress from 1994-2006, and during this time presided over the greatest period of corporate deregulation and corporate tax cuts in history, leading us to the Republican caused Depression in 2008. There is no debating this.

So hang it up already.

So in your strange deluded world when Democrats were in charge they could not be held responsible for thier actions because they only had 57 seats in the Senate and needed a few Republicans to agree with them.

But somehow you think Republicans could be held responsible when they were in charge even though they had even less seats.

Honestly, just look at the crap you wrote. It clearly demonstrates your complete inability to be consistent.
