For those of you who saw John Stewart's speech at the Rally to restore sanity and/or fear this weekend: Remember the analogy Stewart drew between cars merging to enter the tunnel and people of different backgrounds working together to move our country forward. Well, to draw from his analogy, the Republican Tea Party has become the JERK who comes riding up the shoulder to cut you off while flipping the finger at you while he goes by. They have absolutely NO interest in working toward ssolutions this country faces. There is NO COMPROMISE in the new whites only REPUBLICAN TEA PARTY hate filled rhetoric. Again, in reference to Stewart's traffic merge analogy, there is no sense of you go, then , I go, you go , then I go in an attempt to keep traffic flowing. Instead, the Republican Tea party has become a bunch of whiny cry babies throwing temper tantrums telling America that it is their way or no way at all.

All one needs to do is look at the voting record of the Republican Tea party for the past two years to see that instead of coming to the table to discuss solutions to the issues facing our country, they have voted NO on everything. Even when Obama and the Democrats attempted to incorporate Republican ideas regarding tax cuts into major pieces of legislation to garner Republican participation and support in the process, Democratic efforts met with a totalitarian rejection by the entire Republican party. Already announced Republican Tea Party plans for the next two years already show that Republicans are planning to continue their obstructionism into the next Congressional session, even going so far as to SHUT down the government should they take control of Congress.

Well if you are truly pis$ed off at the lack of progress toward solving our nations problems and you are trying to vote for someone that is trying to work as a team to get the problems of things like immigration reform, deficit reduction, and creating jobs solved, then WHY would you want two more years of GRIDLOCK by voting for a Republican Tea Party candidate??? We've got serious problems, and we need serious people to work together and solve them. This is a time for serious people willing to work together to solve our nations problems and the fifteen minutes of the Republican Tea Party are up!!!

Vote Democrat, Vote Independent, but seriously consider a vote for Republican Tea Party obstructionism. Aloha!

Obama Econ Council - Romer’s Research: Expiration of Bush Tax Cuts Will Be Highly Contractionary

By Randall Holcombe on Jul 15, 2010
Budget and Tax Policy, Economics, Politics, Science, Taxation

Christina Romer, Chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and economics professor at the University of California at Berkeley, has published an article (co-authored with David Romer) in the June 2010 issue of the American Economic Review titled “The Macroeconomic Effects of Tax Changes: Estimates Based on a New Measure of Fiscal Shocks.”

Unlike her statements in her role as an Obama adviser, this article is serious academic research, published in what is generally recognized as the world’s leading academic economics journal.

In the article, the Romers divide legislated tax changes into those undertaken in response to economic conditions and those that are “exogenous,” by which they mean changes made for other reasons.

The expiration of the Bush tax cuts clearly falls into the “exogenous” category, because it is the result of legislation passed years ago, before anybody could have anticipated the economic conditions under which they would expire.

What the Romers found is that exogenous tax increases, such as will occur with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts,“… are highly contractionary. The effects are strongly significant, highly robust, and much larger than those obtained using broader measures of tax changes.”

Democrats pull Tax Cheat bill

By ERIKA LOVLEY
3/4/10

Legislation that would force government and Hill staffers to pay back taxes or lose their jobs was pulled from House committee markup today after Democrats hit the brakes.

Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.), who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee that oversees government workers, told POLITICO he was concerned that the legislation would kick workers to the curb before it could be determined if the IRS had erred.

SURE!

The legislation sponsored by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) would cause federal employees who defaulted on their taxes to lose their jobs, including the hundreds of congressional and Hill staffers who owe the government millions of dollars.

In 2008 alone, 447 House employees and 231 Senate workers didn’t pay their taxes, according to figures from the IRS, Office of Personnel Management, and Department of Defense. Federal employees in the U.S. House of Representatives owed more than $5.8 million in unpaid taxes in 2008. The Senate employees owe more than $2.46 million, according to figures.

But some Republicans, including Chaffetz, said he suspects that’s not the only reason why Democrats didn’t support it.

“I think the subtext is the Democrat’s support for unions,” said Chaffetz, a committee member.“Federal employees should not be more protected than others.”

That would be asking too much for someone who operates at a 7th grade education level.

I say bring it on, Fleabaggers! Give us your rich, your retarded, your befuddled masses.

Letting a few of them attempt and govern for two years in congress should do the trick. Nothing as revealing as being yourself for all the world to see.

Liberals will no doubt be energized beyond belief when they have a taste of Fleabagging Fascism from the likes of Sharron Mangele, Randella Paul.

So, thugs, thanks for keepin' ol' Barb employed steadily for the next two years!

I love the smell of Fleabaggin' in the morning.

I can not speak for others, but many have my beliefs. So stopping the wars. Bringin our troops home. Getting rid of Homeland Security and the TSA and the patriot act and other laws denying personal rights, lowering taxes and reducing corruption throughout the private and business side is fascism? Now I saw none of this the last 4 years with Democrats holding congress with the last 2 years having total one way control including the Presidency. Of course, some of these issues were not addressed directly either in this election cycle. One other thing. all of the corrupted on the financial and/or business side and all of the corrupted on the public side in all ways should be prosecuted and their names known to us all. This has not happened. And if it did, there would be many.

I doubt it, but hey, anything's possible. Who would ever have thought that Murkowski would be edged out by a nobody in the primary?

With a wack-job and a write-in splitting the GOP vote, McAdams at least gets a chance to prove he can do it.

I wouldn't hold my breath, but it'll at least be interesting.

IV. Thou shalt call yourself pro-life, and put guns in the hands of school

VIII. Thou shalt bear false witness against your opponents and liberals, and
demonize them.

IX. Thou shalt run on a moderate platform, then enact right-wing policies as
soon as possible.

X. Thou shalt call the media liberal, so that people forget that the media

No one here rants more childishly, or more off-topic, than you do, La Bimba. And it's your twisted spins on the news stories I'm talking about, not the tiny nuggets of actual news you use to base them on, so don't wave that straw man at me either.

'Too bad for America' is the actual result of THIS election. Oh, well - you bought it, you fix it. You've got 2 years, not another minute. That's what you gave Democrats.

C'mon! Get to WORK, punks!:)

They have not authority to act until sworn in, but I will tell you this, change is here now, and more is coming now that banks and company managers know that the liberal tax and spend program has been casterated.....the jobs will start coming finally..........must to Obama's dismay.

Daily Horoscope for June 18

Scorpio

You're in a nicely emotional and loving mood today, and you'll be happiest if you can be with some of the special people in your life for at least part of the day. You don't have to do anything terribly special when you're together, either, because simply sharing a relaxing meal or watching television together will be enough. If you get talking, the conversation will turn to confidences and secrets.
