As the technology increases and the costs escalate in obsolete ways to defend a nation, the said nation bankrupts itself or cripples its potential. In this case. We have spent hundreds of billions of dollars on SDI and other black box projects. Maybe trillions. We the low lifes are not in the loop. That means as NASA calls cheapest way to space..BIG DUMB BOOSTERS, which they do not take their own advice on is the same for the Defense Department. DUMB, CHEAP DRONES and DUMB, CHEAP MISSILES...BOTH OF WHICH ARE NOT DUMB, BUT MUCH CHEAPER THEN THE MANNED VERSIONS. But there is politics involved in everything. Especially an empire. A couple of decades ago there was a movement to slow down the Air Craft Carrier way of thinking and built something called DREADNAUGHTS. At the time, air craft carriers cost about three billion dollars to build. And the cost to protect them in carrier groups expensive. Today it is several times more in a dying empire. the next generation carrier is supposed to cost up to fifteen billion dollars from what I read. If true, that is ridiculous. The Dreadnaught at that time was estimated to cost five hundred million dollars per ship. As compare to three billion per air craft carrier. It rode low in the water. As compared to the carrier's high profile. It did not need a carrier group. Saving tens of billions of dollars. The Dreadnaught was just a platform for several hundred missiles of different types with a crew of a few hundred sailors and low maintenance. The air craft carrier has over five thousand sailors with a high maintenance ratio. This is one of the reasons we are bankrupt. we try to have it both ways in everything we do. It is not just guns and butter. It is guns and butter and payoffs in every aspect in Defense alone. And if you do not think so, why are we still in Iraq after twenty years and Afghanistan with all of our technology. Those towel heads in Afghanistan have beaten everyone to come their way. With much less then their enemies. I gave you one small example of our corrupted culture.
