Why not let Evilution run it's course right?

I mean Evilution has created Dams to block Salmon from returning home so the fish should eventually grow Wings.

I love chicken wings and Can't Wait for SALMON WINGS!

The fish, which grows twice as fast as the conventional variety, is engineered by AquaBounty, a Massachusetts-based company, but not yet allowed on the market.

The company's application has been pending for more than 15 years.

A group of 8 senators are blocking this, I might listen to them if they were not all from salmon fishing states. They don't care of the fish is safe as they have told the FDA to stop investigating the safety of the GM salmon. They just don't want the competition.

We are eating GM foods now, all the time and have been doing so for years, this is just extending it to meats.

The only thing wrong with these fish from a safety standpoint has nothing to do with GM. Farm raised salmon is not as good for you, it does not have as much of the good Omega 3 and you run the risk of consuming contaminants such as PCB. The contaminants in farmed salmon are worse in europe, least bad in south america and are bad in the US. That applies all farmed salmon no matter what kind of salmon you are raising.

All we need to do is study the effect on wild salmon should there be interbreeding and unless we find something wrong there then there should be no laws against GM salmon. The worst thing we can do it just put our foot down without reason cause then someone else will do it and if it is a risk it will get out anyway.

I agree. GM or not, eating farm-raised fish is stupid.

And here's another little appetizing factoid:
The reason canned salmon must be "wild caught" is that farm-raised salmon turns to mush in a can.
