Well i don't think that 250 dollars are going to go to far.The year is long. Prescriptions are so expensive.Stop paying for young girls having babies and food stamps.Make them pay.Definitely they will stop having babies. Stop helping them for a year and believe me you will see the differience. In the 70's we had no ins. and we paid for children care etc...We had no food stamps. My mom got divorse and she never asked for help. She worked all her life. The gov. puts it in a gold platter for the young kids today. That's why we are in a dip hole. The old pay for the young.

One word to the Tea Baggers - Social Security and Medicare are Socialist programs. If you believe in stopping Socialism in the USA, give up your Social Security and Medicare. Otherwise you are just hypocrits to be accepting these benefits while proclaiming that you are anti-Socialist.

Those working today are paying for these benefits and can't even afford to get them for themselves or their family. Many people on Social Security and medicare take out way more then they put into the system causing the debt our country is in.

Tea Baggers put up or shut up.

Has the Democratic party turned into the Republican party? Billions for auto makers, banks and big business, and nothing for those that need it most, our seniors on SS? Shame on you Barack Obama and the Democratic Congress for not fixing this!

Nobody who is receiving social security (having reached the age of 65) will ever get as much money out as they have put in, especially when you consider the interest they would have made on that same money even in a cd. Thieves like yourself created the program, forced people into it, and then complain when those burdened by your system try and get some money back. I think you will find that most of the Tea Party people still paying into the system would gladly dump social security and forgo the "benefit" of negative return on investment that we are sure to be saddled with. I have to wonder if people such as yourself are making disingenuous arguments because you think people fall for them, or if you are just too stupid to realize how illogical and hypocritical your position is. Since you feel the need to use a degenerate sexual term to slander your political opponents I am guessing it is the latter. That or you have been "tea bagged" at some point in your life.

Apparently you do Not work or know how SS and Medicate works.
Let me educate you
If you have a legitimate job where taxes, SS, and Medicare is taken out it goes into a fund for you. When you retire that money is accessible when you may need medicare.
When you retire you still have to pay premiums which range from 98 dollars to 109 dollars a month. This payment is deducted from you SS check. Most people on SS have an added policy to cover what Medicare will not cover.
Now explain how is this a social program when you as a working person have paid into this insurance all your life and still paying for each month after retirement out of your SS check
GET THE FACT STRAIGHT A Socialist program citizen pay NOTHING
Medicare and SS is paid by an individual who works

Medicaid is a social program paid by states for the needy
Why should Obama sign a bill to give Pakistan 7.5 Billion for aid
How about taking care of his own. O' I forgot he is helping out his buddies in the Middle East
Please do research before posting

For years, medicare has been subsidized because those using the system has never paid enough into the system to make it pay for itself. Many of those on medicare paid $50 a pay period. This doesn't go far after the first $50,000 operation.

The working people today are subsidizing those on Medicare - even the mouthy TeaBaggers that suck up this freeby while claiming to not be Socialists and stopping those very same working people paying for their benefits to have benefits for thier own family. Shame on them.

the lowest amount taken out of ones ss check is 98 dollars for medicare not 50
If President Johnson woulden't have dipped into SS and medicare for his war in Viet Nam we would not have this so called problem. A war which we lost.

Spoken like the true idiot that you are. I paid into Social Security by working for 50 years. You know, work---the stuff you don't do. It's my money stupid.
Social security is broke because the politicians, who's butts you love to kiss, stole the money and used it elsewhere.
Educate yourself and stop repeating what other stupid liberals have been saying for two months. Or at least come up with something new.

Congress received a $4,700 raise this year, bumping their salaries up to $174,000.

Obama can afford a bailout for the auto industry, foreign aid packages to other countries and wage a war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We all know that prices aka the cost of living has increased.

Rest assured that more money will go to other useless causes!

The health care cost still continues to increase !

That says it all.

The Democrats in Congress give themselves a big raise and seniors get nothing.

Pelosi should turn in her private jet that hardworking taxpayers are being forced to pay for also.

Well said.

Seniors paid in more to SS and the evil politicians that liberals like your friend worship so much spent the extra money on other pork barrel projects.

Is that a "cost of Living" increase that Congress gets??? I thought they said their was NO increase in the cost of living index. Oh, I get it just because WE like to stuff money in their pockets, because THEY do such a good job ON us, er for us.

All I know is I can't afford another cut or another add on. Whoever posted the comment that we never get back what we put in is right. I can barely get by on my monthly benefit and it is embarrassing and hurtful. I am not very political and never have been. I cant analyze facts and data on who did what and who is not doing nothing. I live day to day trying to stay well. My doctors and hospitals have got a ****load of money on operations I don't think I really needed. Yet what can I do but put my trust in their diagnosis 'live or die or else'. I worked and paid in but you are so right. People get the system wrong. Most times I am treated like the lesser when I present my Medicare card along with a Medicaid card. You see medicaid takes up where medicare don't. I have been sick for a long time and just roll with the punches. I hope whoever it is change their minds and hearts and give us a cost of living increase. If they don't the sun will still come up in the east and go down in the west.
