Full story: Chicago Tribune

Senior Bush administration officials signed off on the CIA 's use of waterboarding and other harsh interrogation measures in July 2002, after a series of secret meetings that apparently excluded the State and Defense Departments, according to information released Wednesday by the Senate Intelligence Committee.

In 202, the Democrats had no power to do anything, as their colleagues across the aisle reminded them at every opportunity.

That being said...ANYONE, R or D, who was in a position to say "no" and did not should be prosecuted.

Waterboarding is a war crime. Anyone authorizing it, doing it or refusing to prosecute those who do it is a war criminal.

Time to move on. Geez, what a bunch of whining pansies. Waterboarding these animals saved AMERICAN LIVES. That is far more important than the discomfort of these animals. Of course the left doesn't get it until its far too late. How many AMERICANS are going to die because of Obama's incompetence????? One is far too many. Impeach Now!

All politicans seem to fall into the category of opportunistic parasites, who only seek power and the fame, and the money that follows. Seems there are unfortunately, no exceptions!

If you think waterboarding is bad, wait till a terrorist gets a hold of you. Before they slowly slice your head off, they do a lot more than waterboarding. Of course you don't care if there is another terrorist attack in the U.S. because you don't have to go and dig out the people who are killed. Your scum
The easiest cost-effective tactic to end Terror attacks on innocent Americans is for the U.S. govt to vacate the Middle East (our govt needs to be forced to not meddle in the affairs of other countries).

Since 9/11 I have never feared a Terror attack on me. In my lifetime, I will never see a real live Terrorist. Sometimes, when police leave a lunch bag or a sealed cardboard box near me, it does make me a little uncomfortable. But that's because I fear the U.S. govt more than I fear a Terrorist.

The shrub destroyed our economy, trampled the Constitution worse than the KGB ever did, and lied to invade Iraq. I hope he is charged with treason and then executed if found guilty. Millions of liberals voted for him rather than John Kerry. Bush was the greatest liar, Obama the greatest spender, our presidents are great people.

Rice didn't save lives when she ignored the "Osmam Bin Laden determined to atack targets in America" memo. Strange how Cheney belongs to a group which asouses a war in the middle east then allows 911 to happen. The he lies about WMDs to start one. Republicans are a bunch of ditto haed sheep.

Yes, prosecute them all. Lets see, Queen Botox Pelosi knew about it (did nothing), Worthless War-bucks Reid knew about it (did nothing). So lets through them in Gitmo. Seeing as WE spent all that money fixing it up and can't keep terrorist there, WE can use it for the Congress and Senate.

Bush Cheney, and Dumsfeld lied to start and unnecessary war instead of focusing on Afghanistan. That is where the terrorists are. Then they gave no bid contracts to their former employers and friends. Cheneys Haliburton stock was worth 500 million before the war what is it worth now? These are the real traitors. Why do all you venom spouting idiots hate the USA so much. If you don't like it here take your unpatriotic fannies and leave.

In 2002, they had the power to release the information to the New York Times, something they do on a regular basis on other things. I guess torture is not serious enough to release to the Times, but the ability to track payments through banks is, as is listening in on calls outside the US. Hmmm. Perhaps the Democrats were worried they would be heard making deals with terrorists, but not about torturing a few of them.

So what?

If they didn't do what they did we would still be trying to catch up with many of them and we might have suffered another devastating attack.

The people who pulled of 9/11 are not hose who would be reasoned with or negotiated with or pay attention to sanctions of frozen assets.

They are vicious murders bent on killing us. I don't care how many times we waterboard any of them. It saves American lives. The actions of the current administration will undoubtedly cost American lives. The dems just don';t comprehend the mindset of the killer devoted to killing Americans.

The biggest crime is in making the memos and actions taken by the previous administration public.

Repeat after me: context. This happened in the aftermath of 9-11.

"We did not have a clear understanding of the enemy we were dealing with. Our every effort was focused on preventing further attacks that would kill more Americans."

A Bush administration apologist? Hardly - these words were spoken by Dennis Blair, the director of national intelligence of the OBAMA administration.

Waterboarding, as bad as it is, led to the foiling of of Al Qaeda's planned 'Second Wave,'- a 9/11-like plot to crash a hijacked airliner into a Los Angeles skyscraper - that fact is indicated by the 'torture memos'.

Remember also that since 9-11 there have been NO major attacks on U.S. soil. Did waterboarding and other torture techniques play a part in that? I would say undoubtedly so.

So we have a situation in which something you actually DID which you KNOW is wrong led to something much worse NOT happening - does that justify it? It does to me. Could I PERSONALLY do it? No.

But - do I condemn someone who actually did it? No.

How many Americans died under Bush's dictatorship? Thousands too many!

Rice did not do this without Bush saying to do so because she had her head stuck so far up his a$$ that he controlled every one of her thoughts. I believe that every one of the Bush followers involved in this need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law as the war criminals that they are.

When are you blind, deaf and dumb Republicans going to admit that Bush did nothing but destroy what used to be a great country? Never because you people cannot think on your own - you have to follow ever the Republican leaders say. If they said the sky was purple you would believe them because they have brainwashed each of you into believing everything they say.

Family, friends and in-laws are all hard to please. It is better to please yourself for once, dear Pisces, than to bang your head against a wall. You need to relax and get in touch with your own feelings. Do not hesitate to speak up for someone you care about. Someone may try to curtail your freedom. Set them straight and do not give in.
