Reid-McConnell clash latest evidence that genteel Senate has turned into a fight club

Jul 14, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Washington Post

The U.S. Senate, once considered the most exclusive and chummiest club in America, has in recent years been transformed into an ideological war zone, where comity and compromise have lost their allure, while confrontation and showmanship now pay big dividends.

I can understand why - If I was a Senator I would tell Reid to kiss my azz.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday that Republicans must confirm at least seven presidential appointees they've been blocking if they want to avoid a controversial change in Senate rules as early as this week.
A compromise deal to confirm fewer than those seven will not suffice.....
There are people in the Senate no smarter than you, so go for it.

Reid's just trying to get McConnell and his fellow stooges to do their jobs; they want more. Reid quite rightly is trying to get rid of the filibuster rule as it exists, and it SHOULD be gotten rid of. It's just a device for obstruction, no matter who uses it.

My gripe with Reid is that he's willing to trade this for 7 nominations. It should just be eliminated it.

In the House of Reps the Republicans have the
majority and no Democratic bills are even so much
as voted on. The lockout is total.

In the Senate the Dems have the clear majority,
but the Republicans believe that their minority
should have the same rights as the majority Dems.

Why don't these Republican crybabies get
themselves elected as the majority if they
want to do business?

Section 1, Article 5 of the Constitution:
A Majority of each [House} shall constitute
a Quorum to do Business..

Just a majority, 51 members. Not 60.

The Republicans ignore the
Constitution whenever they find it convenient.

They hate democracy and spit on the Constitution.

Just another bold face lie by a Dems - it is the Dems that are trying hard to destroy the Bill of Rights, look at all of the Amendments that Obama and Holder are trying to abolish. the first the second the fourth and the sixth. Get a life and stop trying to fool the people as to what is the truth an what is a LIE. IT SHOULD BE 60 NOT 51 - 60 is a majority.

Sure - he just wants the 7 nominations - do you know their backgrounds? Obamas has pick shet for people since he has been in office - everyone of these are as crooked as a dogs hind leg. Before we get a SOROs in there we need to do checks on the people. The NLRB is the big one and he just keeps pushing. This is the only president that I have known that wanted to destroy America and he is turning America into an Egypt now with his race-baiting on Zimmerman. The best way to control a country is to DIVIDE THEM AND THE DEMS AND OBAMA HAVE DONE JUST THAT.

Trying hard to destroy the bill of rights???? bush removed all pretense of any rights at all. After bush and his republican cohorts wrote, passed and signed the Pat Act, you have no rights. If Obama were anything but a right winger he would have voided the Pat Act on his first day in office. Instead he extended it, and further enshrined our loss of freedom by signing the NDAA; not to mention the illegal, unconstitutional, and immoral spying on Americans. How can Obama be considered anything but an extreme right winger when he continues almost all bush policies?

Hey, we finally agree on something. Yup, Obama keeping all those bush republicans around is guaranteed to keep the bush destruction of the middle class going.

Poor answer. He cited a real thing, abuse of the filibuster, while you make up imaginary things "destroying the Bill of Rights."

One hundred members of the Senate means that 51 is a majority, BTW. Learn to do math before saying such foolish things.

Actually, that sounds like what YOU'RE doing.

You seem obsessed with George Soros, who's not in line for a government job. Mr. Obama, like any Republican President, is entitled to appoint people to certain offices and the Congress should be confirming them, barring some real, serious objection. Your claim that "everyone of [Obama's appointments] is crooked" is a lie, unless you can prove otherwise.

Can you even prove that ONE of his pending appointments is "crooked?" Let's see you do it, and I may take you a little more seriously.
