Adam I believe those numbers have gone down and not up.<quoted text>
That was 2005. The increase in illegal immigration has grown astronomically since then. The issue is Federal income taxes and SS gtaxes. Of course sales taxes are paid by everyone including illegals. It is the Federal impact that is concerning.
The Republican National Committee passed a resolution Friday calling on President Obama and Congress to pass immigration reform legislation before the end of the year, but it did not include a pathway to citizenship for any of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in this country, unlike the bipartisan legislation passed by the Senate in June.

I wasn't talking about tech schools, I was talking about vocational classes in high school as a route for graduation rather than taking college prep courses. Vocational classes are best for those who want to work a tade rather than to persue a college degree. They will have marketable and needed skills that would be welcome in all communities. With these skills, they can go on to tech schools or even work in an apprentice program. Doing this will eliminate the need for many of the illegals who are here.
I know a little bit about software engineers and the tech industry. One of my kids is a director at a well-known tech company and her hubby is a senior software engineer at another well-known company. Companies flock to H1-B visa holders and use the excuse these cheaper workers are keeping these companies based in our country. The problem is that these workers are not any better, they just take a smaller salary. Frankly, many of them are highly overrated and not that productive or as smart as we have been told. My SIL has been trying to train one for over a year.

<quoted text>You sound like one that would favor illegal cheap labor in order to continue to keep coddling our younger generation and continue cultivating the entitlement mentality. Are you a cotton farmer?
Take the blinders off.
"A nation does owe its fundamental loyalty to its own citizens, and that should be the guiding force in crafting a generous but responsible immigration plan. Businesses are free to ask for special treatment. But elected officials have an obligation to say no."
