shit, take away their subsidized meals and in house physician perks and they would think that is torture...

when my company bids on federal jobs, we pay heavy, heavy fines if we don't get it done in time. I think we need to go that direction with our contract for employment in the house and senate. i guarantee you will will never have another shutdown.

The only incentive that will halt this non-sense will come from the GOP establishment, not just the moderate GOP in D.C. but the industries and the corporate heads that supply the money.
These are more pragmatic people than the teaheads.

of course politicians egos prevent them from feeling shame and embarrassment, but for them to turn their backs on veterans, soldiers killed, families of those soldiers, and others who volunteered to serve and protect, if they had a soul and a conscience, they would resign in shame.

Obama is going to hurt as many as he can, until he gets his way. he's a monster, and you libs are to blame.

You are absolutely correct except for one word...Obama...

The GOP has been given a potential out...
Push a clean set of bills...present a replacement for device tax at the same time public opinion would swing against the President if he refused...
Include a tort reform that limits the lawyers take and you will have accomplished something...

The Republicans probably should have known or through about the tragic consequences of their planned shut down.

It's not possible to be a politician responsible for funding government and not know where death benefits are initiated, and on what basic they're distributed to the grieving families of fallen Troops.

However, most of the Tea Party Republicans who campaigned on Shutting Down the Government simply don't care about our troops or much of America other than the Billionaires who sponsor them and aim only to bring down the American Government.

After all it was the Republicans that ran up the debt to $12 Trillion from the $5.8 Trillion George Bush inherited from Clinton and now they're threatening to ignore the payments on that spending now it has come due. Did they not think at some point the cost of 2 wars and unfinanced Tax Cuts, a Prescription Plan and elevation of SNAP aid after destroying the job base was never going to come due?

Now the Republican made another asinine decision to pay laid off workers in lieu of just passing a budget and opening the Government. Those are a perfect example of the Republican squandering other people's money when in charge of the purse strings. That's an idiotic decision and financial irresponsibility they've shown over the last 33 years when in the majority.

The clowns driving the shutting of Government have no idea from day to day what they're seeking out of this fiasco or why, other than their hate of everything American.

First they mantra was repealing Obamacare, then they switched to eliminating some provisions of the law, a few days later they sought to delay the law. Now it's another entire different scenario that has to do with the process of beginning to dismantle Social Security benefits.

Only one thing is crystal clean and that is the imbeciles that make up the Republican caucus don't know up from down and have very little respect and loyalty for Americans fighting and sacrificing on the front lines and hate the American way of life those troops are protecting.

President Obama can not capitulate and must achieve a full and unmitigated surrender from the Anti Americans in Congress until the Nov 2014 elections until we force a thorough retreat of the enemies within the halls of Congress.

The morons campaigned on shutting down the Government. Now they've succeeded they are trying to deflect the blame as if American are fools.

All of them should be tried for Treason and deported!

It's a matter of priorities.

If Obama wanted to fund the military and their families, he could do so with the $200 billion collected monthly. But he's using the prospect of no payments as a scare tactic to foster his political agenda.

Likewise scaring seniors about their Social Security is another shameful ploy. Everyone knows that Social Security is collected and paid from existing workers, so this isn't a budget nor debt ceiling matter.

And no default would occur as the $30 billion monthly interest charges on the national debt could be paid as well.

Of course, then he'd be stuck having to make decisions, and be held accountable for them.

His press conference yesterday was a shameful display of half-truths wrapped in the hyperbole of political opportunity.

Liverboy, something from Stewart apropos your problem comment:

"If it turns out that President Barack Obama can make a deal with the most intransigent, hardline, unreasonable, totalitarian mullahs in the world, but not with Republicans, maybe hes not the problem".
