You are missing the point. While you can claim that taxing the rich at higher rates will not, in and of itself, raise enough money to pay off the onerous federal debt, it does have other consequences.
For example, when tax rates go higher, the rich look for ways to shelter their taxes, just like anyone would. Historically they would keep the money in their companies, grow the company, hire more employees, look for new markets, etc. That way they would still have control over more and more money, but could avoid the taxes.
The advantage to the economy is that the companies grow more than they otherwise would. The people running the company put the money into growth instead of foreign bank accounts. Lobbyists push for growth policies instead of money protection policies. Since the companies are growing, there are more jobs and unemployment drops. When more people are working instead of on welfare, government spending goes down. When people are working instead of on the dole, they have a better image of themselves and their lives improve. When there are jobs to be found, instead of staying at a bad job, people move to better jobs; at higher salaries. When people earn more, they pay more in taxes and the GOP federal debt is paid off.
So a higher tax rate on the very wealthy results in an improved economy, but without the rich really paying more in taxes. You can't just kill the economy for the middle class and expect the rich will simply find new sources to increase their wealth.
I don't know where the debate is. You are singing to the choir. In fact, one of Romney's plans was to eliminate taxes on cash coming back into the country. Multinational companies resist bringing capital to the states because it's subject to taxation. So the money stays overseas.

GM is doing fine in China, but if they run into more problems here, the government will once again bail them out instead of GM using that China profit to help out their own US companies.

I live by the rule that every action causes a reaction. When you take money from anybody, it causes them to react usually in a negative way.

LOL. I read that article. But as usual, they will only get a slap on the hand. Operations are ripping off Medicare to the tune of 30 billion dollars a year, and it still hasn't stopped yet.

It's clear you have a specific problem with Democrats...
But give a pass to the morbid ignorance of the Repbulicans...
Fingerpointing will not help the problem. The systems set up for Social Security, Welfare, etc. actually help those in need in this country. You are just being a child about "democrats don't like personal responsibility", which is simply not true. That's just Faux news regurgitation and not factual.
If you put the energy into actually helping and not hating democrats, it would be a step in the right direction. While you shake your fist at our system, you waste time and energy that could be better focused on making yourself a better person by not being a juvenile about policies that this country has been living through for ages.
Yes they have been living through it for ages. But now we are living on a credit card which comes with repayment responsibilities. Putting the palms of your hands to your ears and singing aloud won't make it go away.

And yes, I do blame Democrats. Social safety nets have never been so broad. DumBama expanded everything from government cell phones to food stamps. From food stamps to extended unemployment. From extended unemployment to extended SS disability payments. The Republican Congress has been (and still is) insisting on cuts to our safety net system.

Romney would have slashed those same programs at a bigger pace and turning America into his own personal piggy bank. Your hatred for dems just blinds you to the facts.

Wake up. Romney doesn't care about you. The republicans don't care about you. Faux news doesn't care about you.

Well factcheck.org disagrees with you:
‘Downgraded America’
Ryan faulted Obama for a credit downgrade for which Ryan’s own party shares equal responsibility. Ryan said that “a presidency that began with such anticipation now comes to such a disappointing close,” adding:
Ryan, Aug. 29:[Obama's presidency] began with a perfect AAA credit rating for the United States; it ends with the downgraded America.
Ryan refers to the decision of Standard & Poor’s, the credit rating agency, to downgrade its score for U.S. Treasury obligations from AAA to AA+ on Aug. 5, 2011. That took place just four days after Congress voted to raise the federal debt ceiling, following lengthy negotiations in which House Republicans sought to force concessions from Obama and Senate Democrats as the price for raising the ceiling and averting the first default on Treasury debt payments in U.S. history.
In its report, Standard & Poor’s blamed both Republicans and Democrats for failing to come to agreement on spending cuts or revenue increases sufficient to reduce U.S. deficits significantly. It said:
S&P, Aug. 5, 2011: The political brinksmanship of recent months highlights what we see as America’s governance and policymaking becoming less stable, less effective, and less predictable than what we previously believed. The statutory debt ceiling and the threat of default have become political bargaining chips in the debate over fiscal policy.…
Republicans and Democrats have only been able to agree to relatively modest savings on discretionary spending while delegating to the Select Committee [of Congress] decisions on more comprehensive measures. It appears that for now, new revenues have dropped down on the menu of policy options.

Well Professor, perhaps you need to read more slowly. As FactCheck points out, it was not the Republican Congress who is responsible for our lowered credit rating. It was pretty much equal in that the Congress and Zero couldn't come up with any compromise. DumBama wants to keep spending like a hooker and the Republicans want to slow down or stop spending more money.

Thanks for the advice considering it's coming from a person that thinks DumBama cares about him.

Yes, Romney would have probably slashed those programs. Of course, it's not like it hasn't been done before. During Clinton's term in office, Newt Gingrich created Welfare Reform. After the program was initiated, it turned out to be a huge success. More people off the dole because they were capable of working, and had no choice but to go to work.

You always seem to blame "whitie" for the plight of the black community, yet you never blame Democrats. It's fact that poverty is in relation to education and family. But if your black President is paying people not to go to work, then many people will take him up on the offer. If women have no need for men because government is their daddy, families won't stay together.

They're simply wrong. Republicans provoked the fake "crisis" as a way of cutting into government, while Mr. Obama tried to do the responsible thing. There was NO REASON to hold the debt ceiling hostage, and this irresponsible act led to the downgrade.

You're clearly a liar in love with your own lies, and unable even to realize the truth of my previous post. Get lost.

Obama is better for this country, period.
Paul Ryan is proving that with his dumb budget explanation.

Fkn hilarious.

Romney would have never slashed nothing just another Ultra Modern Liberal from the East Coast which I thought for sure the Modern Liberals would have voted for Romney since he view are right in line with them which is why I didnt care for Romney besides Massachusetts is considered the most Liberal State in the United States so you have to be one to live in Massachusetts.
