Smuggling is a crime.

IF the Feds finished and properly manned a proper fence, this event would be a moot point.

Why don't the people of ElPaso just pool their resources and buy Juarez and turn it into a time share that way you and them could rotate when you want to go and return.

Yes the fees should be doubled or tripled both ways to cross any crossing into the USA.

I think the senators need a real lesson in immigration and drug smuggling. Take the returning troops and put them at the border patrol and customs training, teach them Spanish, and let them take care of the bridge wait times by manning the bridges where they can inspect all the cars headed north with Customs and all the vehicle headed south. Use the troops to our advantage and let the military pay them. What is there to lose? Might be there would be a larger return on them being there and confiscating south bound money and north bound narcotics.

They are using the cities and business's monies and making the citizens pay for it through the nose along the border.

So the businesses would pay towards for the bridge staff and the trolleys. Does that sound like the city is trying to help small buisness? Any more plans like these and the businesses will just turn profits over the city.

IT is an excuse to keep the cities in line. If We pay more for extra people on the front lines at the bridges using city money it will come out of our taxes.
IF private employers give extra money then they will raise the price of their merchandise. Our Mayor wants the city budget balanced as does our County Judge. They will not raise the tax level to supply extra police and fire. Do you think they would turn around and use a tax hike to pay for extra people at the bridges?

My nephew just got back from Afghanistan and he said he'll be damned if he's going to patrol some border looking for weed smugglers. He joined after 9/11 to fight the Arab terrorists who killed his girlfriend in New York, not to try and keep a few drug mules from bringing over some smoke. We have the border patrol already - let them get off their duffs and make some arrests.

It was good that he served and made it out (hopefully) in one piece. But if he gets out where is he going to find a job? The rate of Veterans getting jobs is poor. Their unemployment rate is somewhere near 25% as opposed to the civilian rate of 8.3%. The military is cutting back and the only way they can get jobs and stability is through college if he put the money aside or government training. I hope he finds a good job but I am willing to bet there will not be one waiting for him. This would be good training and might get him into the federal government.

And that is why he won't ever get a good job cause all the illegals and smugglers have allredy taken them jobs cause nobody protects the border. Don't feel sorry for the little nephew. When the soldiers came back from WW 2 had all the illegals taken their jobs and living off welfare. NO HELL NO. Did they come back from the war in 1945 and come up with this PTSD? If they weren't injured they went and found a job and went to work.

I served 18 years, got vet preference, and love nailing these illegal thugs.

Best job ever.

PTSD was called shell shock and was documented as early as the middle of World War I. They paid more attention to shell shock in World War II and it became very obvious with the air crews of the bomber groups having to face the death or friends in close places, constant fighting aerial combat with the German fighters and the flack endured in the bombing runs. There were films made for the Veterans Affairs Medical hospitals in an attempt to help those soldiers. Some time it worked and some times if failed. Guess you never have been in a fight in war or had a father or relative in fights where they can recall all the events in their minds and roll up into a ball fighting the fight again and again. IT takes time to get over seeing some one you have been friends with, bunked with and fought next to being blown apart. SO don't give anyone here your bull about them getting their acts together and find work when you know nothing about it.
