Nye has been the "invisible" Congressman and clearly he hasn't shown any leadership in Congress. We've now seen how the Pelosi/Nye's reckless spending (and $1.5 Trillion deficit) has lead us to cut national defense during a time of war. Funny how they can grow the federal government in virtually every area of liberal domestic spending, but Defense is the only one that gets kicked.

Maybe it's time to move some of the military to other areas. Va. can get other businesses to move in the area and not depend on the military to support the area.. Traffic is atrocious and Va. keeps begging Feds to help them out.. I think it's time to spread the bases around for security reasons. Seems everyone wants a government job because private firms can't compete with the pay and benifits offered by the government at tax payers expense..

I agree with everything you said except for the very last part "at the tax payers expense". The Military ARE TAX PAYER as well.

This is purely political. Why in the world would national defense be the first place to cut government spending? It makes no sense. Our freshman Congressman, Glenn Nye, has proved totally incapable of leading our district. It's time for him to go! Thank goodness Scott Rigell is running.

This administration is doing everything in its power to destroy America brick-by-brick. The Joint Staff College is a piece of the backbone of our military. Removing it and spreading it around will be costly and ineffective. This "is" a political move to bring Hampton Roads into line with the mindset of this administration...a form of punishment for being more conservative than they like.
Obama does not like the military. he doesn't like the history of our country or how things work, which is why he wants change. But it is not a change patriotic Americans can stomach. If our leaders in congress and the senate don't do something and soon, this is going to be a major blow to this area. Forget overcrowded highways because a strong military, one that is prepared physically AND mentally is much more important.
