Did you even read the story, or did you just see a.Democrats name and decided to add your stupid comment about Obama. The man is trying to keep 5000 jobs from going up in smoke and this is your responce.

To start closing military bases in VA. would be a huge blow and I for one wish him the best of luck trying to fight it.

Read the story?? Have you been in this state for the past two years??? Your Senators have done NOTHING!!!! They have coward to everything Obama has put in front of him despite the FACT that Virginians overwhelmingly did not.

No I do not want the military bases here in Virginia to close but to think that nim wit will do anything to stop it, is a joke and you know it. He didn't even know it was going to be announced or considered. If he is not going to vote in D.C. the way the people who voted for him wish then just how big a fight do you think he will pose?

Never mind just keep drinking the KOOL-AID idiot.

Why was Web saying he had just heard about this and would respond later??? I have been hearing for months that it was under considerations. Why wasn't Web already researching and attempting to determine the impact not just to VA economy but the well being of our military as well. The last 10 years has shown that the future can not have totally separate branches of the service operating independantly. This does not seem a wise move to many. WHERE ARE YOU WEB ????

Warner stated he didn't see a rational reason for this. Webb said he just found out? ok are you guys in the dark? you are suppose to be serving Virginia?
I am wondering if this is payback from the WH for lawsuit on Healthcare. Would be typical Chicago politics.
If so, keep on fighting them Virginia!

Let the slots come to Virginia, and we would not have to close a thing down. Would bring in Revenue, and employment, And let's not hear that we do not have a commission in place to over see the slots, because we do! and we already have the ideal place for the slots. Colonial Downs was Built for traffic control, Parking, location, and already have the facility in place.

Couldn't agree more but the churches still have too much power in this state and will not let it happen.

It's my opinion that the democrats see
our GOVERNOR of Virginia as pushing and getting
jobs to Virginia (instead of politicking on TV)and
they think closing such a large facility can
possibly slow his momentum......as many other federal facilities can be closed and downsized without concentrating on such massive layoffs in
one state. I wonder if there was a democratic
Governor in place in Virginia if closing thhis
facility in Norfolk would be even considered.

Maybe the administration should start
on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington to cut
their budgets.....?

It looks like our Virginia senators are
going to be under the microscope and they should
help the adminnistration to spread these layoffs
around without affecting one state so strongly
with their unemployment situations.

But the real story behind this is a Bush nominated Republican Secretary Gates eliminating these jobs!

Go figure!
