The VA is a joke. I have never seen anything run like it. I have had many sleepless nights worrying about my father and we have been fighting the VA for over 8 years. We should be helping anyone that fought for our county but we are not!! Every time I think we might be over the hill they through something else at him. The red tape and circles just do not stop. Time for someone new to stand up for not only Vietnam Vets but all Vets!

Having worked for 3 VAMC's in my working career as well as in several differents services of the VA... I can tell you it was a well run administration. However, I do know and remember that the Research and Development areas left much to be desired. Most ALL of the reseach done and funded was for alcohol related problems. It took the VA years to conclude there was such a thing as Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and many vets just killed themselves for lack of understanding and proper care for their tramatic experiences. I would also add that the volunteers (mostly wives and families and veterans organizations) who cared for and comforted all the hospitalized vets are true heroes as well. Bless and care for all our veterans...they deserve all the care and respect they have earned.

The VA has made it difficult for some veterans to get benefits. I was a Korean veteran attached to the Korean Army located out in the country. We were only 3 American among hundreds of Korean soldiers. I contacted an infection and have never been able to get a benefit from it. There's no records, since I was seen by Korean doctors who kept no records. The place was full of bacteria. My infection never showed up at discharged.
My case has been denied.

Does the infection still bother you today?

Why doesnt Billerica ever advertise veteran benefits. I went there a lot and the woman at the front desk always told me goodbye! I need help but it's not in billerica. Where can a veteran go when he cant get help from the billerica veterans office? I been treated real bad there.

I have only had positive experiences with the VA especially in assisting me with filing and receiving a disability rating for Parkinsons. I suggest utilizing your local rep.
I urge other VietNam vets with Parkinsons to file a claim.
