Webb contends that the current system incarcerates too many people at too high a cost, with poor results.

Arrest less people right?
Prosecute less people right? Yah Sure!

Sounds like another Weak on Crime Democrat to me.

I wish the article had told us more of his ideas. The one sentence about criminal justice was very vague...I'm sure the bill had more data, justification, and things that need to be changed.

With 100,000 people in state prisons in Florida at a tremendous cost, some things probably do need to be looked into. It's likely a big waste of time and money to incarcerate drug USERS and those who violate probation on some minor technicality. Sometimes it's the easy cases that seem to get harsh sentences while deals are made with those who have some other claim to fame.

Yes would like to see some more details but I also think you are forgetting that most of those Drug Users in Prison were caught doing something other than smoking a jbone.

It sucks that people have top break the law but hell, even Obama and many in Congress does it.
What the difference?

Strange how he didn't bring this reforming of the Criminal Justice system until after it was reported that states were going to turn loose inmates from the prisons to cut expenses to the states. I hate it when people jump on bandwagons after the fact. They have no substance.

There is no criminal justice. The courts have been bought off just like the rest of government.
