The real situation which is not being talked about is that the people who are falling off the rolls are being sacrificed to prop up the imagery of a "recovery".

If no extension is granted, they can show 1.5 million less people on unemployment rolls and call this an improvement. The people going off the rolls for the next couple of months will offset to a great degree those going on and make the picture seem rosy and draw people back into the market.

What is not talked about is that the money coming from the federal extension is spent in the local economy and props it up - a much more effective stimulus. The real depth of the recession will not be felt until that money is gone and people are robbing and stealing to feed their families.

It is more important to our senate to prop up the market than make it possible for formerly hard-working individuals to feed their families. This bill was passed by a large margin in the house in mid-September and is waiting for Senate action. The real crooks and criminals and agendas stand revealed.

Yep! By the way - I wonder how many people know that the Emergency Federal Unemployment Extensions are financed by the money collected from our paychecks as Federal Unemployment Tax?

This is a small deduction that is on some paycheck stubs and is included within the State Deduction in others. Over the more than 30 years that it has been collected it has accrued to a total of over 1 trillion dollars.

I wonder why the Congress is so reluctant to pay off on the insurance we purchased with that deduction? You don't think they have their eye on those funds, do you? Or maybe they already spent it?

One thing to consider JP. The funds for an additional extension are coming from an increase to employer tax however that may not cover it all and the basic unemployment fund reserve is almost bankrupt or so I have read. If that is true they (politicians) may be more interested in other hotbuttons like health right now than opening a new can of worms regarding funds necessary for what some consider the same as welfare.

I say walk a mile in my shoes and see how you vote senators. Health issues can be tackled later but unemployment is an emergency issue right now as some will be in dire shape soon if not already. I don't want to see what people will do if necessary to feed a family, these are desperate times senators it's time to act NOW.

Unable to find a job an unable to remain in my home. We spend billions on space and war, but, we can't help our citizens.
