Book him, Dano! He should be made an example of enforcement: convicted, fined, and imprisoned. The good Republicans of eastern Oregon will need to find an honest replacement to vote for this election.

Boy, why hasn't this been all over the news? Some allegedly gay guy propositions someone in a bathroom and it's all over the news, but this idiot hires illegal aliens and I haven't seen a peep other than this one article. Did I miss it?

I couldn't care less who some guy is sleeping with, providing he's still doing his job TO THIS COUNTRY. Hiring illegals is not doing a proper job and is putting Americans out of work, so that I *do* care about, as should everyone else.

This guy should be publicly humiliated and forced to step down, face a huge fine and mandatory jail time, merely because he is who he is.

He's scum. Perhaps after jail he should be forced to go to a third world country and assist them for a year or two with making things better.

What puts Americans out of work is outsourcing more than hiring illegals. They get the very low paying jobs. Outsourcing is the reason why major factories are closing. Where is the hate towards the Asians?

Everyone here has had an immigrant in their lineage come to America at one point or another. They were the illegals of their time and took jobs from others. Same kind of low paying shit jobs.

People need to remember that.

Your thinking is skewed. They had the proper documentation and many had American sponsors. They followed the required steps and waited patiently for their big day, when they would become naturalized citizens. A lot of them were craftsman filling jobs that were available and needed to be filled...they were building America, not tearing it apart. To compare a swarm of locusts with those who truly contributed, assimilated and swore their total loyalty to this country is an outrage. They didn't rely on government hand-outs; they were personally responsible, self-reliant and took care of their own, no compariosn at all to the dependant whiners of today, who by the way are not deserving of the name, immigrant...they are invaders, interlopers, ILLEGAL ALIENS.

How dare you compare the legal immigrants of before, who were grateful to come here and did it the RIGHT WAY, to the illegal scumbag invaders that come here without permission and then refuse to assimilate and march in our streets carrying the flag of their mother country, chanting in a foreign language and demanding rights they have no right to demand, much less receive!

You need serious mental help to even begin trying to make such a ridiculous comparison.

I resent people who lump immigrants and legal
migration with illegal aliens and invading a country and taking their resources.

Just how many generations does it take before we Americans can claim our place in the US? I'm a 5th generation of legal immigrants thru Ellis Island and I'm tired of reading posts claiming we should all go home! Just where would home be, but right here where I was born? On the other hand, Anchors and their parents defend their statuts as Americans. What total B.S.!

"A Republican U.S. Senator who serves on five major committees and regularly speaks out against illegal immigration owns a lucrative produce business that mostly employs illegal immigrants.

While Oregon Senator Gordon Smith publicly chastises illegal immigrants (he proudly voted against amnesty for millions living in the U.S.) for benefiting from government services that American citizens provide, he has for decades benefited from their cheap labor.

A news magazine in the senator’s home state has published an in-depth story with incriminating details that paint the portrait of a hypocrite politician who says one thing and does the opposite. And as the good senator, who is up for reelection this year, knows well it’s a violation of federal law to hire illegal immigrants.

Yet for decades the lawmaker’s highly profitable business, Smith Frozen Foods, has done just that. Located in the tiny eastern Oregon town of Weston, the company has nearly 500 employees, the majority of them from Mexico and some from Guatemala and El Salvador. The company refuses to use a federal database to check workers’ immigration status because “it doesn’t work very well.”

Practically the entire town knows that the senator’s business is an illegal immigrant haven. A local attorney, who represents Smith employees in criminal cases unrelated to their work, said her clients’ immigration status is often revealed during checks when they are arrested and booked. The attorney estimates that more than 70% of the company’s workers are in the country illegally.

An accountant who operates a tax preparation service for Spanish speakers says he has helped numerous Smith employees who didn’t have Social Security numbers file their tax returns. Because they are in the country illegally, their taxes were filed with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number."

And just where do these illegal live? Property owned by Smith and his buddies? Property you and I would refuse to reside in but illegals can't complain.

Smith should be on the hill in front of Congress to explain himself and his business!

Illegals come from many ethnic backgrounds and sources. Jumping ship while docked, tunneling under our borders from Mexico or Canada, or a foreign exchange student that washed out in school and never returned, Cuban refugees that make it to shore and vanish into the brush to name a few. Entering our economy the correct way, by going through the naturalization process provides safety for the rest of us. Part of naturalization is learning fundamental English phrases and the meaning of them. So the person going through naturalization can read well enough to pass a driving test. Its bad when a car speeds through a "STOP" sign and tee-bones your car because the driver could not read that or other signs. I doubt anyone that has committed felony invasion ever was taught basic language skills to allow them to live in the USA and lead a crime free life. Drug Cartels, prostitution, animal fighting, and the like are here basically because we ignored invasion for so long.

Article IV Section 4 of the United States Constitution. Reads as follows:

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

Every politician has sworn an Oath to uphold this constitution including the words, "...and shall protect each of them against Invasion...".

To me this is a supreme contract and breaking that contract with, "We the People", needs to be addressed. If you took out a contract and weren't able to fulfill your end of the deal because the labor market was flooded to the extent it has been and you could not find work. You should not be taken to task for breach of contract until Congressional leaders that took Oaths are taken to task and repairs have been made to all injured parties. BTW I'm not a writer. If someone can say what I see better just go for it.
