If sullivan thinks the faculty is under paid then let the university take the funds from various endowments and the capital campaign funds...which are in the billions...No additional taxpayer money for faculty salaries....The time had come to put a cap on unlimited spending on faculty salaries... With current salary scale there is hardly any turnover from year to year in the faculty..

Clinical faculty raise their own salaries by grants, contracts and other projects. And can, thereby, increase their salaries. Why don't all faculty do this?

What about the under paid staff who suffer with a measly 3% biyearly raise.

Start with high profile figures like coach London and Greg Littlepage. They should be payed on performance anyway.

While VA Gov. McDonnell orders all VA state agencies to plan to cut their budgets by 4% immediately, UVA wants many millions more ? The UVA faculty doesn't appear to be starving with their current wages, although the lowly staff just might be. Perhaps the faculty should be quiet until the lesser employees of UVA are paid a wage that they can actually live on.

Sickening, disgusting, wasteful, and just simply the wrong thing to do. She knows all too well how bad the staff salaries/wages are, and yet her priority is to make the better off even better off. That 65 million dollars could actually help people that truly need it. Nice decision Terry. So glad we stood up for you.

Most staff have not received a raise in ~4 years, not even CoLA. UVa's staff salaries are not competitive with the market either, and tend to reward time spent at UVa over merit-based raises and promotions.

Also, due to the state gov't pay freeze, academic research faculty are not allowed to give themselves the raises that were written into their grants. They must give that $ back to the federal gov't or other granting institution.

I doubt very seriously if any of you have gone on the internet and researched what the academic and medical professional staffers earn in salary each year.....It will make you scream ice cream.....As far as the non-professional staff goes...they thing they should be making what the professional staff makes and you will never be able to satisfy them...It would have been so much better if sullivan had not been given a second chance..... The BOV showed weakness and now they will pay for it....and the taxpayers of virginia will pay for it also.....

Not shocked at all by this, the faculty is treated like God's here, and the staff, well gets treated like nothing. Sad thing is Faculty couldn't do half of their work without the staff, but since they "saved" her job, they deserve yet another ridiculous raise while the staff gets a tiny one time bonus after years of no raises. Now a budget cut that will probably only affect staff.
